Certainly there will be an option to paint those flares. If not these are going to sell like **** flavored lollypops.

This is…disappointing

Trying to visualize in my head how those plastic fenders make sense on a sedan or how to make them look good.

Based on the low redline, it seems as though they've made minimal changes to the WRX's FA24DIT in terms of the cylinder heads, cams and turbocharger. The FA24DIT engine geometry is capable of a much higher redline with its 86mm stroke (as seen in the BRZ/86). Prime Motoring revved their Ascent FA24DIT to ~6.5k rpm with the stock heads/cams before power started dropping off.. granted that was with a larger turbo and ethanol.

As for the body work... I'll keep my VA. Maybe the plastic fenders make it easier to swap to wider plastic fenders on the STI trim?

Are we actually getting Orange as a regular color now? Yay!

This worries me because historically they have dropped red for orange or other one-off colors.

Maybe they decided that silver and darker silver and two similar blues was a tad bit redundant?

I was already on the fence with this damn car. Getting too big and fat and now it's just another CUV with cladding and low redline. WTF Subaru!

Anything fun would be a huge improvement. WRB and red are the only colors offered on the WRX that you wouldn't expect to see on a Buick driven by a 75 year old.

It's really weird how boring Subaru has become with a happening guy like this

having so much input

I believe that the '05 to '09 LGT proved that Subaru could sell a more upscale, quick Legacy with success. I would be in the market....but that would take away from WRX sales.

The 2005-2009 car market was wayyyy different from what it is today. Tuner cars were hot and sold in droves. Think Cobalt SS, Neon SRT4. **** Chevy had SS badges on a Malibu hatch back then, and it sold!

Consumers in 2021 want jacked up crossovers that give off a rugged appearance. Those vehicles FLY off the lot.

If Subaru made a 6 speed manual Legacy GT it would sit on the lot for a year until the dealer is forced to use their earnest $ from the manufacturer to get rid of it.

I hate to say it, but the VA platform is likely the last of the rally-inspired WRX’s that hold true to their original roots. I’m definitely not holding my breath for the STi version of this car.

Even the 300hp FA20 DIT rest of world got always redlined around 6000, I guess this is no surprise. I think most DI turbo 4's (especially for more vanilla models, which let's face it, the WRX is totally vanilla inside) top out around there. Revving past 5500 in a stock VA FA20 is about the most pointless thing, they might as well have limited it to 6000.

But this cladding. I can't believe they're going that way. It 100% is gonna look like a friggin Crosstrek sedan.

That guy, I love him. He's increased Subaru sales year over year for years. He's brought so much love to the US Domestic Market. We enthusiasts are the losers that got a divorce in the process.

The orange WRX could simply be a limited Launch Edition.

When I read this, I though "Yoda" was being censored, like "baby Yoda green" would have to be censored, or maybe Disney was coming after Nasioc; then I remember the four letter swear word... I have children, I've seen the color you referred to, but my brain still went to popular culture...

Who needs good enthusiast cars when you can beat off to "X months of sales growth"? Not this guy

or a lot of people on here.

All we need is a sporty WRC blue sweater and some sweet sweet sales reports. It's what makes a Subaru a Subaru.

The 1.5T in the Civic, which is as vanilla as it comes, has a 6500rpm rev limit. Not a huge difference, but the WRX limiter stands out -- and not in a good way.

Don't worry there is alot more to come when the STi is introduced with 311HP. Well short of the much anticipated and highly hyped 400HP.

But but but Subaru is a small company.
