tS adaptive dampers are the answer. If not, downsize to 18s with more sidewall.

Stiff suspension, my TR feels like my coworker's WRX. I think it remarkably compliant considering it has 19" wheels and it isn't much different if noticeable at all than a non TR WRX. I haven't driven a GRC, but every review of the GRC vs TR is that GRC has a stiffer suspension (Matt recommends the GRC but he complains about the softer TR suspension being too stiff?). I agree the Recaro's are stiff, but I still like them. It probably isn't the best choice for a long distance seat. The arm rest, the armrest extension is available, Matt clearly has short legs base on his driving position, he didn't complain about it in the VA. It is in the perfect position for my arms. Good lord he is complaining about the exhaust being too loud. (Most complain the exhaust is too quiet) Yeah it is boomy at start up. I don't think it is that big of deal, maybe his wife/GF is complaining. The infotainment screen is fine for what I use it for. I drive a MT, I am not fooling around with menu screen while driving. The XM tuner delay is terrible but I am not going to subscribe to that anyways, |

I think the VB WRX needs more power too, but I know I can easily remedy that with a Cobb AP and minor mods if need be. I bought a Cobb AP in June with the father's day sale, but I can't bring myself to void my engine warranty yet. I am not even at 60 days, maybe it will be a 90 or 120 day warranty . IMO GRC needs more power too.

The manufacturers have a loaner program for the YouTubers so they’re not going to say anything too bad otherwise the manufacturers won’t loan them anymore cars. The whole point of these YouTube videos is to get people to buy the car. It’s all marketing. YouTuber glams up the product. Manufacturer gets free advertising and YouTuber gets ad revenue. The only people who lose are those who can’t think for themselves and draw up their own conclusions about a car.

This car is the best package in this class. It offers a ton of space, great safety rating, it is available at or under sticker, performance is great, specially in terms of daily driving (5-60), engine has plenty left to mess around with, there is endless aftermarket support...The two biggest downfalls are the fuel economy and insurance rates. It looks like ITS is becoming available at 1-2K discounts, that would be my 2nd alternative but then you are stuck with FWD.

honestly, Straight6 comment is right on.
For the price, its a great package. Especially since its common to get Subarus at invoice. Its just an ugly package, no STI 6speed, and no proper STI version. I just cant stomach it. Know which other car I cant? The new M2. Ive tried to like it's looks. I just cant. |

M2 looks really grew on me, unlike the VB WRX. If I had money for an M2, I'd pull the trigger.

lol there aren’t what I consider 35 vehicles in the WRX segment. If you are looking for an affordable MT AWD, it is the GRC or WRX. (The Golf R last MT production was about 9 months ago.) Sent from my iPhone using NASIOC |

I don’t have the money either, lol. It’s a damn BEAST. Looks freakin’ muscular as hell in person. You get over the goofy front end in approx 3.2sec after you go tear-ass around in one. One of the worst cars in photos, one of the meanest in person. |

a base m2 costs 64195 which is more than double what I paid out the door for my vb. No **** it should be a better and faster car. Whats next you prefer a mansion in the hamptons over a double wide in a fly over state? |

Ok... Elantra N. Everything else including Golf R and Corolla GR would have been STI. Elantra N was designed to be Hyundai's best. WRX was designed as Subaru's mid pack offering.

Some options I’ve considered:
Integra Type S - more expensive and fail wheel drive Elantra N - sorry but that is a hideous looking car to me and also fail wheel drive GRC - saw one in person and I liked it. Specially like the circuit edition. But still not sure if I’m ok with its size and might be hard to get plus out the door would be higher probably. Golf R - looks really nice but now lacks a manual and I worry about VW reliability. Can they make a water pump that doesn’t crap the bed? I feel like they’re a company that cuts lots of corners. Big boy territory now M340i Xdrive- lacks a manual, lots more money now, and it’s a German luxury car…I know the B58 is legendary and might even say it’s bullet proof…but sorry it’s still a BMW, electrical gremlins are gonna be a thing. Maybe a good lease option instead? TLX Type S - absolutely love the looks of this car, honestly the best looking sedan in the market right now. But with the M340i being the same price and better in every single way I don’t know why anyone would get it. RS3 - just too much and German reliability and depreciation. IF Audi brought the RS3 Avant to the US I’d save up for that and wouldn’t care about depreciation or lack of manual etc that would be a dream car for me. So yeah… it’s a tough market for anyone looking for AWD manual. If all that mattered to me was not getting gapped then WRX isn’t it. I’m beyond that at this stage of my life. So if going out of my way to spend money on a new car based on the emotional need of wanting to drive manual AWD, it’s a tough market and the non manual options are a tough sell. Basically left with just the GRC and WRX. Now with this tS, you get the big break kit with the adaptive dampeners and honestly what I think is a hugely improved interior. Still going to get it for under a GRC so yeah… it is what it is wit this market… |

Lmao @ these comments.
“The Elantra N isn’t a direct competitor!” Yes it is, and it’s cheaper. “That’s an STi competitor! Doesn’t count!” Yes it does count when they are in the same price range. |

It's not our responsibility to fix your broken perception. If you want to pit a FWD performance car vs an AWD performance car, that's all on you.
The closest I've ever come to cross-shopping non-AWD vehicles was when I was considering the BRZ and Focus ST. Eventually I decided that I hated FWD and didn't need the utility. Plus I didn't want to be associated with the local Ford community. Still, never did it cross my mind to bemoan the BRZ for not being a 5-door hatchback with a turbo. That's basically what I hear when someone says the WRX isn't cheaper with FWD. Just insane. |
