06 WRX 20G vs 04 STi VF-39
My 06 Wagon:
278HP/286TQ FP20G Helix Catted DP Spearco TMIC Walbro Fuel Pump Friend's 04 STi: 254HP/263TQ TXS DP TXS stealthback w/Prodrive muffler Fujitsubo Coated Equal Length Header Helix Coated Uppipe CF Driveshaft AVC-R Both were Pro-tuned at Gruppe-S by Mike. Spool with the TD06H 20G and the 06 WRX engine is almost identical. We did a couple of highway pulls together and it was pretty much dead even. I maybe inched him a bit but barely.

those numbers seem pretty low for a a 20g on a 2.5... i thought you would be well over 300 whp

That's what I was thinking. There was a 20G 2.0liter wagon posted in here not long ago with well over 300whp. I wanted to say around 320-340whp.

it is dynoed on the gruppe-s heartbreak mustang dyno. your are lucky your numbers were not lower. still though a 20g vs vf39 should have been a a$$ kicking.

I did the same mistake when blingus first posted his graph. Things to consider... Mustang dyno reads lower than most dynos no catback exhaust (wanted stock look/sound) Not a STI, hence less flowing heads and no avcs All things considered, it's a great setup. I'm sure it's well over 300whp on another dyno, and it probably sounds almost stock! What a great sleeper. |

I drove it the other day and I could hardly tell it was running it was so quiet... when i came to a stop i was worried i stalled it i couldn't even hear it. and then later on the highway he pulled me in my evo.. i knew it would be faster due to the numbers, but from driving it i wasn't sure because the sound factor wasn't there, it didn't SOUND fast but it scoots!

Alright. Let's clarify then. Is the WRX motor identical to the STI minus the intercooler and turbo? Block and heads are the same? I haven't heard that one before.

Plus you know how satisfying it is to roll up to an SVT cobra with a loud exhaust and smoke him without him hearing anything while he is looking at my tail lights? Priceless! |

Nice thread, nice results.
I really like the minimal/stealth/quiet approach and you've targeted the necessary stuff only and got good results. Can I confirm this is stock induction, stock 2nd cat? What sort of boost profile? |

Long block: As I understand it, the pistons have a different dish, the heads a different combustion space and passages for the air pump. Crank, rods, valves, cams, valvetrain the same to my knowledge.
In terms of the external bits: injectors, TMIC, turbo, intercooler, air pump, ECU. |
