07 2.5i - 87 Octane - OpenSource Reflashed
Well, got to put an N/A car through its paces on the Dyno. Overall, not bad gains for the mods after tuning. I am not sure what I stock one dynos at yet, but I intend to find out.
Mods: Injen CAI Borla UEL headers High Flow Cat (told it was gutted from rally use) Magnaflow 2.5" cat-back Retuned by me #1 is the retune, #2 is stock. The bumps in torque are from AVLS kicking in (on the logs you can see engine load bump up with torque), I hope they find and add the AVLS map as I believe it will give a better midrange curve. I removed the open loop delays and enrichened the low end to run more timing and leaned out the top end. Yes thats 155 whp 147 wtq

Awesome. I'll be keeping an eye on this also. Once the bugs are out I may have to give this a shot.

Looks like the stock MAP sensor will set a CEL around 6 psi of boost though. Although it is easy to turn off the code permanently Maybe installing a vortech supercharger would be easier.... hmmmmmmmm |

I know a 2001 2.5RS puts down slightly over 120whp on this dyno. Figure a 2.5i could do a little over 130. Add the related mods and a tune and you've got the 150s. seems plausible. |

Yeah baby, wewt =)! He did a great job tuning my car, and man there is a huge noticeable difference at the low end! I'm loving it thus far, but I'll keep an eye on the gas mileage to see what I've lost .
Super nice guy, definitely seemed to know what he was doing, and even detailed out all the newbie questions I threw at him. Thanks again! |

Nice work, and quick , looks good and sounds like the driving enjoyment has improved.
Quick question for the tuner, do you feel there is much to gain if you tuned for 93 (91 out west I guess) octane? |

^Exactly. Why don't you get crazy and throw a little 89 at it? Or maybe go really wild and throw 91 in.

Cool. Looks like a very solid gain from tuning on an NA setup on 87 octane.

The owner of this car was talking about putting in cams, looking at how the AVLS system increased the torque in steps I can see that a more aggressive cam profile would be beneficial. If we get access to the AVLS system you could make cams with a stock lower profile for great engine idle and driving, and then the AVLS profile for all out power. It'll be interesting to see what happens now that the tools are in place to tune for mods |

I'm interested what higher octane would do to this curve as well...in all seriousness unlike some of our turbo friends.

hmmm..... cams....... P&P head..... turbo exhaust manifold..... the possibilities are endless now with tunning in our reaches!!
one question though is, who the hell makes cams for the 06-07 2.5i's? |

Nobody to my knowledge, could get regrinds maybe? We got Delta Camshaft mere miles from the dyno, maybe I'll call them today and see if it is possible on the AVLS cams.

Look into Delta cams, they'll make cams for anything. And its cheap too because its just regrinding the stock cams.

damn this is pretty sweet. You basically now could just pickup some piping from a wrx and have turbo 2.5 with gobs of lowend
I mean the stock wrx turbo components you can get for practically free! |
