![]() and what are your mods??
I'm trying to decide on what direction to go in for a stand alone and being that I would like ot maintain drive-by-wire, this is one of my limited selections.. So, speak up and voice your opinion.. Q

![]() +1 for me. But I pretty much only have an intake and TBE so far. My money gets spread too thin to get my car built up too quickly. Hopefully next year the turbo upgrade will happen.

![]() I think he mention DBW just because some other systems (AEM for example) haven't made a DBW version. So Hydra is one stand alone that works with DBW.

![]() 05 STI, Hydra powered. I have also owned the UTEC and Cobb Acessport/Street Tuner but in my humble opinion the hydra exceeds the capabilities of the others, bar none. The only regret or issue that I have is that the Hydra does not have OBDII support and cruise control.
Mods are: Ultimate Racing GT35r (.82 A/R) turbo kit with coated piping. APS DR725 APS Tumbler Deletes APS 3.5" exhaust pe850's Hydra with wideband Dual Supra twin turbo pumps dual HKS BOV's ....a bunch of other parts.. DEFI BF's, Alpine IVA-D901... Loving the Hydra, although I haven't quite figured out what I'm going to do come emission inspection time. ![]() |

![]() Yes, the idea is that I would like to maintain DBW while having full control over the motor. That really only leaves me with the option of the Hydra or a Motec with a custom built harness. As this isn't my daily driver, i'm not concerned about OBDII or emissions.
My goals are 400whp on pump and race-track proven. A stand-alone seems like the only real solution for full control. Trying to hash out management solutions first as that greatly changes my route.. Honestly, that new Z06 is looking very appealing as the cost of this car starts to add up... |

My factory ECU has a reflash that is "close enough" for my mods, so if I ever need to get my car inspected, I just need to use that ECU long enough for it to pass all of its tests before it goes in for testing. |

![]() Hydra continues to be revised and have new functions....now I just need to get Joey to give me mine back....oh I don't have a car right now.
It's not quite a plug in and run thing, but it is very sophisticated and a lot of fun to learn how to tune every aspect of your car. For the owner-tuner I don't think there is really anything else to own. It's better than the stock ECU can be. |
