Probably because they're not full-size and therefore useless is why I abhor spares.

Can you stare directly into the headlights and let us know if they're more or less blinding than the outgoing model?
Odd. First thing I did to my R is install a spare tire and related tools. I can't stand being stranded. Most of my flats have been from blown sidewalls, something those fix a flat things can't fix.

I've never blown a sidewall in all my travels. I've taken about two 14k+ road trips a year since 2013. I only get flats when I'm home, wherever that may be at the time (New York or Alaska).

If I could get my hands on an extra 18" wheel with a tire and calibrated TPMS, and it fit, then I think I'd bother with carrying it around.

But, in reality I'd just spend that money on mods before I spent it on something practical like that.

I also just get it towed and insurance reimburses me.

Every new ‘fun’ car I’ve bought, the spare gets yanked. Dead weight. Get it gone.
Knock on wood, never had an issue.

Same. I sourced a spare and tools. Still need to mount them in the tray and yank all the stock crap back there (FENG/Sony Amp, etc).

Hopefully you actually did knock on wood and that table was the only one with evil spirits in it; otherwise, you're ****ed.

no matter I should be going to the ride and drive this year so I will taste it myself when the day arrives. I have a feeling it will be worth the wait and besides, patience is a virtue.

Training is at the Texas Motor Speedway. I can't wait to get back on a track for training. Last time was for the 2012 Impreza.
And then?

I hope it has better brakes than the new Outback with 2k miles on it I rented this week. My Impreza pedal feel and travel is 10x better than the Outback I had. One time I had to hit them hard, and there was zero confidence in the feel I had.

Hmm. Not sure about that. Even back in 2011 with the brake "issue" thing then, I've never had issue with the brakes. Eyesight sure stops the car; so, my confidence in Subaru's braking is just fine.

Impreza brakes are more stabby than Outback brakes. I've driven them both enough. Outback isn't bad. Not life-threatening. But Impreza is better. I assumed because of weight.

For the R, the ROW cars get a spare, just the US ones don't. Silly bean counters. But because of that, the stock subwoofer is designed to fit inside of the spare, and I was able to buy the foam parts to hold the jack and related tools. Since my car was ordered, I purchased these well in advance and had them sitting in the garage - installed day one.

Potholes have been the majority of my flats, and they usually blow a sidewall or damage a rim - something no fix-a-flat will repair. Getting a tow around here is nearly impossible certain times of day. Around rush hour, the tow trucks are busy towing cars that are illegally parked in time-sensitive zones, they couldn't care less about me with a flat tire... "yeah, we'll be there in like 4 hours" was the response I got when I needed to get my WRX towed after blowing an ignition coil at 3pm on a Friday. I rely heavily on my car. For work, as a parent, etc. and I really just can't be left stranded for something as simple as a flat. Guess I could leave the car and take an uber (what I did with the ignition coil issue), but that's a whole lot of money and hassle - the $150 I spent on my spare tire kit was well worth the peace of mind.

If the next leggy/outback omitted a spare, that'd be a huge mistake, imo. These are family cars.

although, on the flip side, I feel like about 5% of the 'murican population actually knows how to change a spare.

I ridded myself of the stock 19" 35 series tires within 1000 miles. A 35 series tire is just asking for a flat. I went to 18" 40 series tires. Bought 2 sets for summer/winter. If you have potholes, the 18" 40 series makes a lot of sense. Good opportunity to drop unsprung weight as well. I dropped 7 lbs at each corner with relatively inexpensive wheels. 18" tires cost less too.

For Central Region, they start in the south and move north. I am normally in the Tulsa training which is Monday and asked my DM if I could get in on the Dallas training. They opened up a spot for me. I didn't mind the extra driving this time cause I got to see 2 of the 3 people I was hoping to see(Pre was unavailable). And there is a bit more to do in Dallas. I don't know if y'all get the same format of training; but, I'm getting bored with it. We don't get to drive as much. Rush rush rush. With the exception of the Ascent training, we don't get competitor vehicles to drive anymore. I did learn a couple things I hadn't known before; but, I have to ask myself, was the 16 hours of driving worth it in the future?

I'm not sure if we will competitor vehicles like ascent training either. but we do more driving at these newer sessions. I hope they test it against the new awd Altima. can't wait for the media embargo to end though. we need driving impressions of that turbo for the legacy and outback.

That 2020 Impreza info tho... Honestly I'm just hoping for better LED headlights from the Limited trim that I can swap onto my Sport. I hate the individual LED lights. They got it right with the BRZ back in 2012. And also the Legacy/Outback in 2014. Not sure why current Impreza and Forester got the ugly LED headlights. *shrug*
