I bought a 150$ exhaust shipped to my door. Sounds great. Every 6 months I take the CBE off, dribble oil all over it, and scrub it with 0000 steel whool. Wipe it down, shiny and good as new

I will never pay 1,000$ for a metal tube : |

Unless I have a much more expensive car......much....

I am sure the same people advocating paying for the Cobb stuff would never run Rota's or any other knock off wheel...right? You guys only run BBS, Advan, Volks and other crap like that at 2500+ for a set of rims....right?

A fool and his money....

Yeah, there's none of that in this thread in favor of rip-off / knock-off parts / the replica community... no way

Why would people be angry you can by jank parts for less, that's just common sense.

I'm going to assume you're the appointed advocate for all things, replica - rip-off / knock-off, and eBay....right?

Please ellaborate on how Advan, BBS, & Volk wheels/products are crap; I'm looking forward to seeing something logical written.

I'll examplify with wheels, as you mentioned wheel manufacturers. What would happen if Advan, BBS, & Volk stopped making new wheel designs?

Would knock-off wheel manufacturers fold up; due running out of wheel designs to blatantly rip off?

I'm willing to bet people like you would have a lot fewer choices than now; when it comes to wheels and generally modifying their cars (going beyond wheel manufacturers ending product development).

Calling wheel manufacturers with proven motorsport history crap; clearly demonstrates the depth of your product knowledge/expertise, which is clearly limited to "clearence sales" and eBay.

Your brilliance is overwhelming; I can't help but to look forward to more of your posts, for the degradation of all things logical.

ok...I used the word crap and you missed the point of my post. Good job! The point was simply to ask those condemning off brand parts were they following their own advice when it came to the more costly items. I could give a rats ass less what you use as you would be shocked how stock my car is... it is a crap commuter vehicle for me...nothing more. Am I an advocate of even modifying these cars....not really. The only reason I even have aftermarket rims on my car is because I hit a pot hole.

Quite frankly, there is no reason for wheels to be this expensive. I doubt you were around for it (likely still wet nursing) but a few years back BBS had a huge blow out of inventory just so they could reduce stock and raise prices. Overnight top tier wheel prices went from 200-300 per to 500 and up...and the whole industry followed suit. They blamed it on dollar/Euro...but that ship sailed...what is the excuse now?

For the record...I spend my time/money on street rods now. I am currently working on a '38 Plymouth. Wanna see how to spend some real cash...try one of those on for size.

I can read just fine; you missed my points just the same.

The point I'd like to get across to you is this: There's just as many replica consumers condeming authentic parts consumers for wasting money on over priced product, regardless of quality or material.

If there was no authentic parts manufacturers for modifying Subarus (for example); most people would be driving relatively stock or one-off'd custom cars.

The replica consumer grief is hilarious, claiming parts are too expensive; then buying replicas, then bitching when they fall apart... only to buy replica parts again. The concept isn't difficult; you get what you pay for.

Are some parts over-priced? That's subjective, the replica community exists because of it.

I can't comment on BBS raising prices; I'm 24 and not sure when that whole event transpired.

I know restoration / old street cars / antique classic cars are expensive projects. One of our insured's sells OEM Ford parts - his '32 Roadster is insane, period.

when you see "stainless" advertised + the cost is pretty good you can be assured its 400 series, it surface rusts but manufacturers bet their lifetime warranty you will trade before it rusts thru!! then theres 304 stainless aka borla + others it IS truely lifetime, 10 years + 200,000 miles on my 2001 jetta 1.8T + it was just discolored, as a typical 300 series stainless does + the pipes just pulled apart, because NO rust + band clamps that do not indent the pipes!! you pay but it will outlast the car, if its NOT magnetic an easy check its the real deal!!

good points. There are many different grades of stainless. They were developed to fill different needs and all perform different functions. Descriptors like surgical are meaningless. The 300 series are the most corrosion resistant. 304 is good while 316 is best for highly corrosive environments. Some grades are listed as the % of alloying elements like 18/8.

Before you buy it for any kind of car parts, kindly check the vehicle’s user manual and ensure the specifications well enough. But if you lost the user manual for your car, you can now it online on manuals.co, which is the online website to get all kinds of car user manuals absolutely free of cost.

Before you get any such parts for your car, I would suggest you to read the specifications of these in the user manual of the vehicle. And if you lost or misplaced the user manual, you can get a copy of it online for manuals.co.
