My mech and mihself took about 4 hours to get that uppipe installed. I guess the fact that it was late evening, and we had poor lighting, only added to our distress. |

It took me and my buddy about 4 hours with a lift--he's a mechanic who owns his own garage--no stranger to car builds--he currently has a 10 second fox body mustang he built. Granted he'd never worked on a WRX before, but it was still a huge pain......

Lol, I did mine all by myself with only one arm. No joke, my shoulder (I'm a righty) had just been dislocated kayaking and a ligament was torn from my humorous. I had surgery and did the uppipe a week or 10 days later. First time, guess everything just went right

I had my up pipe up on by a friend of mine how is a subaru mechanic and he ended up having to cut off one of the nuts holding it to the turbo and took him 5 and a half hours to just get the one pipe off.
Glad I paid someone to do it instead of me trying it cause I would of been dumb founded |

Having the right tools is key...It took me the weekend because i broke the o2 sensor trying to remove it! It truly was a bitch to install though, defiantly not the easiest spot in the world to get at.

O2 sensor removal is not part of the process. The 02 sensor goes into the header. You are talking about the EGT sensor in the uppipe.

You can just disconnect the sensor in the header from underneath the plastic cover up under the passenger side strut, and then just drop the whole header once its disconnected from the motor. You should be able to move the heatshield enough out of the way to do this. Once everythings out, just modify the header so that next time you don't have to fight it

No, i was talking about the 02 sensor on the header, that i had to remove to get to the uppipe. I think there are a couple of ways to do the install though, mine involved removing the header and the headers o2 sensor.

Just tell yourself this...."It'll be easier the second time now"
When I did mine, I had a lift and two other WRX friends helping. And we aren't slouches when it comes to mechanics. It still took 5 hours |

the catless up pipe will throw a cel, but it can be very easily fixed with a 2.2Ohm resister fix
Sorry to hijack this thread, but people who do have an up pipe....do you think its worth it? I just ordered so i will find out soon i guess |

....im extremely confused why people are scared and nervous to do this install. My friend and i did this install and a full turbo back in like 3 hrs with a few breaks for beers. i will say luckily no bolts broke so that was nice. just striped it all jack up the engine pound the f'er with a hammer and wam done. Ive dealt with much more annoying upgrades or maintenance then an up pipe i think people over react a bit.
