I say, unless you plan on adding the rest of the lip kit, just leave it as is. : )

I find it interesting that all three of you (flyboy1100, aeoporta, averagewhiteboy) all have the Impreza Sport. So what's the deal? Do you not like your side spoilers? Or do you like them and don't want my base Impreza to join the Impreza Sport club?

I think my base looks cool without the side spoilers and with the splash guards.

Plus all said and done the sport was cheaper to buy than the premium I was looking at, but if I had just got the premium model I would not be considering ordering them. Go for functional, like a short shifter imho |

No, I like my Sport. I like the side skirts. But to me, it looks incomplete having only the side skirts and not the rear and front lips to match. Thus, more money to Subaru to buy the pieces that should have been there in the first place. lol When I was doing a "build my car" on the site, when I did a Sport, I added all the stuff. All lips, spoiler, grille. But for the "base", I did the "base" mudflats, grille, spoiler, and STI front lip. I mean, it's your car. Do what you want. But I think it looks good as is! |

He he I ordered all the Subaru parts for cheap when I ordered the car so that's why I have them. Yes I am a visual whore in the last two days I have been followed by three cop cars good thing I was doing the speed limit I could see they were waiting to hear a loud exhaust but no such luck all they can do is possibly give me a tint ticket

I love that about my wagon. I can be doing whatever I want and cops won't even look at me. lol They'd be like "Oh, a silver wagon. They can't possibly be doing anything illegal in that."

The guy in parts at my dealership is always jokingly giving me crap like "Just buy a WRX already". Truth is, I like being the only guy in our local Subaru owners club with a 4th Gen Impreza. I like the aesthetics more than the current generation WRX. I like that it's a hatch, and the new WRX is supposed to only be a 4-door sedan... so to me: this is my canvas. Will I spend more on modifications getting this up-to-par with my lofty goals? Probably. Will I have a great time doing it? Most certainly! lol, to be honest... I went ahead and ordered the parts for the side skirts about 15 minutes after asking on this thread. I had been kicking the idea around for far too long and I just decided to jump on it. It was just kinda funny coming back to the thread expecting "YES! DO IT!" and seeing "Naw, leave it off." Oh well! |

Hey, do what you want. haha
I like having our areas only 4th. It throws people off. From the front, people say it looks like a Legacy. And from the side, it kinda looks like a WRX/STI wagon. From the back, dunno. lol It seems like alot of people still don't know what it is. Can't wait to debadge the hatch to really confuse them! But I don't know, I like the car. I like being different. I loved my 11 Si, but at car shows, you're only 1 of like 30. In this, I'm the only one. That's kinda cool. |

So, report demanded. How do you like the 22mm sway bar so far? Do you only have it on the back or did you swap out the front? How did it effect handling and body roll? Any oversteer or understeer?

Rev - It's all "Eye Candy" - looks good but really does not improve performance. Something like upgrading the exhaust to increase the VROOMM sound. Your base is already in the club - it's just not a Sport.

Our front bars are 22mm, so he probably isn't swapping that one. I haven't seen a larger front for our car yet. But I'm actually very happy with the sti rear bar so I haven't looked

I still have the stock 22mm front sway bar. And I LOVE the upgraded rear. The roads were a little wet this morning so coming around a sharp corner I accelerated hard in second. The front end didn't plow through the corner like it used to and I could feel the back end coming out a bit. Now remember I am also running 225/45 performance tires so I am going to have more grip than the stock eco tires. The car feels extremely balanced and is great through the turns now. For those interested in the over steer, with stock tires on a damp day I'm sure you could have a little fun. It's just that the car doesn't have enough power and the VDC is going to kill any drift you are planning to do. Overall I say upgrading the rear sway bar is worth it. Its 100 bucks for the STI one and I paid 185 for the 22mm. Its easy to replace so you can't really go wrong.

I think he's referring to the side sill plastic trim that's added to the Sport models, but that is missing from the base models. It's this side sill plastic trim that the strake kit/front aero guards are mounted onto.

You'd be correct. I've seen 'em called a lot of things. On the order for the parts themselves, they're called "Side Spoilers".
