More info:

The Impreza 2.5RS and SVX will be in the SSGT2 class. This is a pretty tough class for Sports cars under $35,000. The top three cars last year were 2 RX-7s and a Firebird. To be competitive in here you're going to need some power. A well tuned turbo car could probably do pretty well actually given the right combination.

Legacy (and Legacy Outbacks) will be in the Mid-price Sedan class. Last year the top three cars were a BWM 325i, VW GTi-VR6, and a Nissan Altima. Don't get cocky though, this is also a very competitive class and you know those top three cars were pretty well prepared.

The Forester is in the SUV class. This one was won last year by a Dodge Ram 1500 truck with 2nd and 3rd being a Ford Ranger and Ford Lightning, respectfully. I personally think a properly modded Forester could really dominate this class. Those guys wouldn't even know what to think about the little agile Forester running circles around their trucks!

Right now it looks like we're going to be campaigning an Impreza at the event. Anyone else going or are we going to get to take home our own contengiency money??

Take care,
Trey

Very cool, Trey. I have been wanting to do this for a couple years now. Hopefully sometime in the next couple years my work situation will be such that I can take the time to do One Lap.

Thumbs up

This reminds me. About month and a half ago, i was on Interstate 90(just outside of Albany, NY) heading west Toward Buffalo. I was in my 350hp single turbo RX7 before i sold her, and there comes this line of sports cars all in a row in the passing lane. So i move over and what passes me? first a Z3 hardtop with the inline 6, then 2000 911 non-turbo, late 80's BMW, and a Viper. All of them had the one lap sticker and i imagine they were on their way to Watkins Glen, prob. just leaving Lime Rock. Anyways, i let all the cars pass except the Viper. I let him get up alongside me and he looks over at me. I look over to find his passenger sleeping with his face against the window.Funny sight! Anyways we both drop the hammer and i pull a 2 car lead and hold it up until almost 140. We reach 150 he's gaining like there's no tomorrow. 160 and he's just by me. almost 170 and then its like i'm in reverse and he's doing the sound barrier! Oh man what a race but that Viper absolutely killed me on the top end. He slowed up and pulled up alongside him and grinned and he waved. His passenger never woke up!

* disclaimer* This was on a 6 lane total highway with no traffic in our lane in between exits 25 and 25A. Very long straight/ stretch. Total race lasted 35 seconds. Kids for God's sake please dont try this at home!
