Cool Just put my order in at Van Bortel Subaru

Well, I just called Van Bortel Subaru in New York and put my name on the list for a silver 5spd 02 WRX with 17" wheels, gauge pack, and short shifter.

A few notes about the conversation with Patrick (saleman) over the phone:

First off, very nice and very helpful. But, a little uninformed. He says no info on invoice price yet, but he says he's guessing about $24K, since MSRP is going to be around $26K. Apparently, he doesn't know pricing has been released. That's the only wrench in the whole thing. But, I digress....

$400 over invoice is the deal, plus any options. There is of course the problem of not living in the North east and having to have the car shipped to me, but they said they can ship to Atlanta (my home) for $350. So basically, we have a cost, with shipping, at $750 over invoice, not including fess and tax.

Not too shabby I don't think. We'll have to wait and see. If anyone calls and tries to get in on this deal, make sure you mention this site, and invoke the buying power we have as a group. Every little bit of pull we can get the better.

Diana is the WRX contact at that dealer, BTW... not too sure how much the other salespeople know about the car.

Only $400 over invoice, eh? Hmmm......keep this thread salesperson in mind since I live in Maryland. Not sure yet if I'll get the WRX.

Question

I thought it was too Neon-esque for you, Snoop? Why the change of heart?

Oh, & we don't need more than one Van Bortel thread... here's the original: http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Forum1/HTML/017762.html

BTW, they said they already had 15 reserves put in. If that holds true elsewhere, looks like SOA will have a sellout.

Because of this :

All you gotta do is replace those hideously embarrassing headlights like Prodrive did(they don't want to make their drivers look bad - and ~I~ have to look good at all times! ) and voila! No more ugly Taurus like headlights......

Wait....did I say Taurus? I think I'll wait for replacement headlights to become readily available. Something tells me that light mods will be a hot item!

Are you people really afraid the WRX will be sold for MSRP or higher? I've heard nothing but good stuff about Van Bortel but I can't see buying from them if you're out of state. In a lot of places, a VDC Outback can be had for $500 over dealer invoice. And before it came out, people were saying it would sell at or above MSRP. There's a lot to be said for a no haggle sale though.
Happy shopping,
Dennis

I know alot of ppl are paying sticker for it. And your right, it is really nice not to have to haggle and get the guilt treatment.
Just walk in.. and say.." I'll take that one" and already get a good price cant beat it

I just put my name on a list here in Washington. I wanted to wait until the numbers from SOA came out. Well, I liked them so I went around to the dealers but they already had lists of about 10 people. So I called a dealer that is out of the Metro area and they said they could put me on their list. I said ok not thinking of it much then she said you are the FIRST one on our list! I am going up there this Saturday to talk about what options and prices and to give them my deposit!

I'm a tightwad, so believe me, I wouldn't be on an out of state list if I thought I could do better locally.

The dealers here in the Atlanta area (or lack thereof) suck.
