Thumbs down South Coast Subaru is FUNNY!!!

Now when I talk about South Coast Subaru in Costa Mesa California, Im only talking about their shady sales department and not anyone else. Ferdie at parts is great. I would do business with him anyday.

A friend of mine wanted a White 06 STi and we call around to get the best price. We found one at Santa Monica Subaru but that was really far. Called SCS and they said they would match the price. Awsome. We go to the dealership ready to buy and they run my friends credit and so on. Then one sales lady comes back and tells us that its hard and unlikley to get the Subaru/Chase fininacing cause his credit score was too low. We were like ??? cause he has awsome credit. She comes back to tell us his score and we were confused cause we just checked his score the night before and no problems. She told us a score 50 points below what it really was. So the lady basically just lied to us about our own information. She comes back telling us that he was not approved by Subaru/Chase for finincing, telling us that he was a first time buyer etc... However, she did come back with another bank finicing rate of... get this... 10.8. After all the payments, he would be able to buy a freaking M3!. So of course we laugh. Then the Finance guy comes out and tries to again push the first time buyer thing and he wouldnt be able to get approved anywhere else for a better rate blah blah blah. He tells us my friends real credit score which was close to tier 1 but still denies that we were approved. We end up going to another dealership and when they contacted Subaru/Chase for finincing approval, Subaru/Chase said that South Coast Subaru didnt even contact them about financing for my friend. So not only did SCS lie about the credit score, they lied about trying to get him approved for finincing though Chase. They went straight to the other bank with the stupid APR. Isnt that illegal some how? Someone told us to report to the DMV about it, maybe we should.

Cliff Notes: South Coast Subaru lied to us about financing approval to get us to pay more money.

i know in the mtg biz we now have to disclose fico (credit) scores to borrowers. They may have been in some sort of violation there. . .

The DMV isn't going to help you or care. That's not their job. Where you need to go is the better business bureau. I'd also call whichever local news station has the "consumer alert" program, and tell them this story.

Sure... I have a question for you... did you read the rules of the review forums... they are for posting actual encounters with the dealerships. That means... if you have a legit claim to be upset with them post it... like what did you buy? Why do you feel it was overpriced? And have you talked to the dealership about it, or are you just using NASIOC as a soapbox to bash a vendor?

If you can't provide the facts with posts like this then I'll please ask that you refrain from posting in the review forums anymore. This forum is to help other members with real reviews, not rantings without reason.

Oh and BTW I am pretty sure it is Costa Mesa, not Meza. That is the third time you mis-spelled it.

Thanks.

Yeah I saw... which is why he brought so much attention to himself.

I want people to be able to talk freely about dealerships in here, the good, the bad, and the ugly... but it's people like this that don't bother to read the rules that make it nearly impossible to get solid legit information about dealerships when you search.

i would file a bbs com complaint and they will officially send a letter to the dealer and if they get enough complaints they will get investigatedl. it also looks bad for them to have online filed complaints and they know people are complaining becuase they get letters. So i would call the Female at the dealer and tell her what you will be doing just to ruin her day since she tried to lie and ruin yours shady bastards

Wow, people are some shady creatures......

If I was you I would go back to SC and request to speak to a manager. Tell him how you went to a different dealership and the other dealership informed you of South Coast's shady tactics. Tell them you are a very reputable member of the largest online Subaru forum in the world and that you already posted about how bad you were treated. The icing on the cake would be if there are customers there when you are engaging in this conversation with the manager, oh and make sure to tell him that you are contacting the BBB and SOA immediately.

Also, make sure you do contact SOA and the BBB. I hope that greedy saleswoman and financing arsehole lose their jobs.

they tried to charge me a $95 service fee for taking a look at an issue that is covered under warranty and then suddenly remembered after I said it was an '05 that it would not cost nothing. My scheduled maintance ended up taking 4.5hours to finish instead of 2.5hours and they didnt even take a look at the extra issues i had mentioned. I wish I had read the forum before going through that.

The bbb will do nothing but file a complaint on their record. You need to file a grievence with the Dealer Commision in your state. They will launch an investigation into the dealer. The dealer then has 30 days to refute your complaint. If they dont they can be fined and/or have their license revoked. Thats the Law.

File a complaint with Subaru of America. Preferably a written one, and cc: a copy to the Better Business Bureau.
