I am running the TD06SL2 20G 8cm on my motor. It's over 6000 miles and I'm making 360whp E85 @25psi tapering to 21psi.

So it would seem Kamak is not really selling anything anymore via ebay short of rebuild kits. What other names are they being resold as(that are found on ebay)? I noticed they have an OEM program where companies can re-brand as their own, got any names I can search for?

It all depends on the supporting mods but i hope you do get there.
The parts i have so far which is still growing is as follows. Installed(not much): COBB Air intake & Air Box. Waiting to be installed: Used STI TMIC ROTA Gravel rims 18" KINUGAWA TD05-20G WALBRO CSS 342 fuel pump Wanting to buy: TCP TBE 3" Exhaust Larger injectors(still undecided) STI Pinks lowering springs Then the tune. I'm not sure what power level i will get but hopefully it will be more than 200 KW ATW. I no i am under estimating that power output but i am. Why i got that Kinugawa TD05-20g turbo is first: Cost $900aus. Second: Not much lag and i'm not chasing a big output (350kw+)but i want great acceleration and mid-range torque. Where i live which is Australia, the speed limit around town is 50km. The Subaru even in its stock form is begging to be unleashed. When i complete all the mods i have done there is going to be alot of back street and country road driving to be done. Last edited by thenic123; 11-10-2010 at 06:49 PM. |

Anybody else in the US distributing these turbos? I'd love for someone to offer a twin-scroll kit using their TS header, uppipe and turbo.

Ask and ye shall receive. Not Kinugawa specifically, but the same distributor from what I remember.

Hey All,
I have been doing a ton of research on Kamak, Kinugawa, Kando_dynamic and now Xaviar turbos. All of these turbos can be found for sale on eBay. MaPerformance also carriers Kamak but does not advertise them on their website. Kamak is a Taiwan based producer that openly advertises that they will "brand out" their turbos to other companies. This is most likely the connection between Kinugawa, Kando and Xaviar. KamaK also produces what seemed to be the majority of rebuild kits and CHRA's on ebay. Keep in mind, I am not endorsing or promoting Kamak turbos all I am doing is presenting what I have found. Searching the forums, many people are giving their opinions on these turbos, but few have first hand experience with them. I have been able to find a few positive short term and a few longer term reviews out to three years on these turbos. On the flip side, I was able to find at least one failure reported that occurred at 20,000 miles. Their were other reported failures of Taiwan based turbos, but I was unable to link them directly to the Kamak brand. If you search Taiwan turbo you'll bring a few of these reviews up. Taking off the rosey glasses, I think Kamak produces turbos that are of better quality, fit and finish than the $300 ebay turbos. However, their ability to consistently produce turbos that last over time is the real question here. That answer will only be discovered as more people put miles through them and review or log their experience. I am unwilling to throw a company under the bus over one persons bad experience, because their are tons of factors that can go into turbo failure. Many have made the valid point of ... do you want to throw down $800 on an unknown turbo that could take a dump on you in a few months? Or do you prefer the paying more for a well known brand with a proven record? For me, I am pondering on taking the risk with Kamak or Kinugawa, because not many people have them and I don't mind being a front runner. I will continue to keep an eye on this brand until I am ready to purchase my turbo and make my decision at that time. If I do buy one you can be sure I will log my experience! |

Running TD06SL2-20G in my 2.0 EDM STi, got the supporting mods, intake+dp+exhaust and tune. Headers and uppipe still stock.
Full boost around 4krpm, pulling strongly all the way up to 7.5krpm, car feels really nice to drive. Dynoed ~330whp @22psi with a fairly conservative tune, 2.0 litre stock STi gets around ~220whp on the same dyno. So far I'm very happy with everything, although I've only done about 1000 miles with the turbo, I'll keep you posted if something dramatic happens. 245.8kW is power at the wheels in the dyno sheet for those of you who can't read Finnish. |

Had a 8cm TDO6 20g on my old 240SX from Kamaka and it lasted for a good couple of years with hard driving and over 50K!!! The turbos are water and oil cooled!!! I just put on a new 20G 8cm from Kinugawa with Subaru Gaskets and the turbo is stout and spools fast! No problems and probably wont have any since my last turbo and friends who have their turbos have seen no problems!
