I have an accessport for an 08 sti - but it's married to the car. What do you need it for?

Yeah, if you're gonna be continuing to add mods you'll need to retune via ap or open-source.

Subbing to the new thread, I'm hoping to make it out this week since I'll be moving in at u of h

nope it wont matter if your mods are cobb or not. for cobbs access port off the shelt maps its best to stay with what they tuned the car to have on it. like stage one is ment for a completely stock car, and stage two is ment for a car with a high flow catted downpipe and exhaust. if you go much further then that you can use the cobb access port racetuner software and tune custom maps. if you a 06 and up wrx or an sti you can even go with speed density with the custom maps if you choose. its a handy thing to have if you dont want to go standalone ecu.

If I want to buy a downpipe. Do I have to buy the one with a front and rear catted downpipe? Or can I just get front catted downpipe???

As long as you don't throw any codes, you're golden on inspections. When you get tuned for the dp, your tuner should eliminate the code from ever popping up.

I only had one guy ever do a visual check on any of my cars and it happened to be on my wagon (I'm fully catless). All I did was tip him a few extra since he was being a dick about it. Nobody else ever visually checks, all they do is scan for codes as far as emissions.
