Default Curse that pollen...take that!

After a few tries of washing and waxing my car after work, I finally got around to spending some time over the weekend to start over and get my car clean again. The pollen's been coming down heavy in my area so it was a good time to get it back the way I like it. It's amazing how much better things turn out when you're not racing the sunset!

  • Meguiar's clay bar with usual wash and wax
Yesterday:
  • Wash, dry, wax
Too bad it rained last night, but at least the paint was protected...

Unfortunately, it still has very light swirls and a few water etching spots, but from a distance she sure looked good. I'll have to wait on doing anything about those for a while as my budget doesn't support an orbital or detailing shop rates lol. I'll also be searching around for some replacements of my detailing supplies when I use up what I've got, but I was impressed this go-around. What do you think?

Used:
  • Meguiar's Gold Class wash
  • Meguiar's NXT 2.0 wax

But looking good!

Pollen sucks! it's actually very aggresive and will eat away at the wax on your car

I've got that on the docket as well for the next time...I tried a few test areas with a little success, so I think I just need to give it more 'passion' or do multiple applications...I heard it takes 2 applications to really restore past the scratches.

I suppose if I took a picture of my car it would give you nightmares! It is pollen season in Fl also right now, and my car has sat stationary next to azalea bushes without being washed for 2+ months now!

It was bad in this part of FL last month... it was horrible to say the least. It's not bad at all now, very minimal. Of course every time I wash it, it rains the next day.

I wouldn't say it's aggressive, but it will contribute to harming the surface in two ways: If you try and just wash the pollen off with water you won't get all of it since it clings at a microscopic level so if you try to dry it with a towel afterward you'll be making fine swirls in the paint. It's best to just hand wash the car totally to get it all off. It also is acidic so it will start to degrade the surface. While it's not going to eat holes down to the primer any time soon, it will contribute to dulling.

Technically, Tattoo! is right, but not about the severity.

....no. Pollen does suck, but it doesn't "eat away" at the wax like they're bacterial enzymes or anything.
