Have a Nice Day? Car Damage!

This is just my rage speaking right now, I need to vent to people who baby their cars as much as I do. Today my mum's car was in for an oil change which was a good 3,000k off date. So I said I'd let her borrow my 95 impreza... oh well she hit a branch, or loggy thing on the road, because the road was... get this ...too slippery in the snow!!! K so anyway I took a quick look at the car before I set off to pick up my girlfriend, and as I'm on the highway approaching 100km/h the car starts to wobble and almost break loose. so I slow down and it subsided a bit. WHAT DID SHE DO???? I'm guessing she fubar'd the right front, as breaking is also compramised after this tragedy... is my car safe??

Get under there and look. Also check your tire pressure. Your alignment may be off, but it also depends on how she hit it.

Eric, I am with you on that. If my mom borrowed my car and she didn't even mess anything up...it would still feel like she messed something up. Not in all cases, but in most, it is a psychological thing.

Hmm.. I've had a somewhat similar problem with my car yesterday and part of today. My car was wobbling and rattling at speeds above 55km/h and was totally terrifying at around 100. The cause - too much snow packed into wheels cause disbalance in the wheels and made it feel like it was misaligned or something. Make sure you clean out your wheels and wheelwells first. Oh, and I also packed up some snow in the brake calipers as well, so my braking was much worse for a while. I cleaned it all off today and it's back to its normal self.

In the case that there might actually be some damage from hitting that loggy thing, the first question I'd ask your mom is how fast she was going when that happened? At higher speeds there would've been a greater chance of damaging something, however unlikely that may be, unless it was something like a medium-sized tree brunch.. Hmm..

You'll also want to check and make sure that the front fender is pushed tight in to the wheel well. She may have bumbed the front corner and broke the clip that hold the fender in place. This can cause the car to wobble and vibrate when you get up to high speeds.
