Default Nemesis R1 - Single Seater Build with JDM STI EJ207 + 6-speed

Hi Everyone,

It's time to start a new build!!! Now that the Batmobile was lost in the divorce I needed to sink my teeth into something unique and exciting. So it's time to build a crazy little rocket.

I'm building a exoskeleton single seater that will be powered by the 8K redline EJ207 and 6-speed transmission. Exoskeleton is being modified to fit the Subaru power plant and I am designing my own body/fairings to cover up the shell (seen above). Estimated final weight of 1400 lbs.

We're right in the middle of modifying the chassis for the power plant so that we can get everything mocked up before 3D scanning the chassis to CAD design the body.

I'm working with MME Motorsport for the pneumatic paddle shifting for the 6-speed and likely a DTA-fast SX-Wheel for all my instrumentation.

Oh... and YES.... This will be street legal

This should be a fun project. Now for some pics of the chassis

I also started a website that I'll keep updating as I have more details and updating renderings. It also lists some of the companies helping me out with the build

YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!! I was going to ask about the wrap up on the Batmobile, but the aforementioned divorce pretty much covers that!! Sorry to hear...

Your attention to detail is wonderful and makes my OCD happy. I can't WAIT to see what happens with this build!! Best of luck Bro...

LOL Thanks! Yeah would have been nice to hang onto the Batmobile but what can ya do

It's fun to pick out parts for this new machine. A heck of a lot less complicated than the Batmobile that's for sure. Basically Engine, Trans, Electrical, Plumbing... Done!

Next up is picking out a decent seat that doesn't break the bank.. Been looking at the Corbeau DFX

I've been accumulating some parts for the build. I have some flexible LED tubes that I will be using for DRLs and front turn signals.

In the picture below you'll see the LED rings that I'll be using for tail lights. They will be hollow rings that allow air to flow through them.

Side markers will be smoked Subaru ones, and I'm using some Mazda 3 bumper reflectors for the rear corners as well.

Lower rear fog/reverse/brake light is from a 370Z and I'm running a vertical 3rd brake light down the spine of the car similar to that of the BAC Mono.

Fuel cap is from Newton and I'm using a Turbo kill RFID system as a key to allow 20 seconds for the push to start ignition to work.

I was going to ask the same question. That chassis could very well be my next project.

Chassis is one that we are modifying to fit the engine that I want. It is from Superlite cars called the Nemesis. Designed to fit a VW 1.8T engine.

Latest revision. Brought in the waist line, exposed the rear suspension and flattened the nose. Currently talking to Corbeau on seat options.

Damn, hate to hear about losing the batmobile, I followed that build for such a long time, and really enjoyed some of the unique solutions you worked in the engine bay.

More things falling into place!

E-brake assemblies and parts we need to modify the chassis for the EJ207 and 6-speed have arrived. Also the fuel filler cone to match the fuel cap came in from Italy.

I also worked out something with Corbeau UK for a LE-Driver racing seat, 4 point harness and aluminium rails along with my Nemesis R1 logo embroidered into the seat

Oh, and the custom plates arrived!

Project Update!

We'll be doing a compression and leak down test on a candidate Version 8 EJ207 on Saturday morning. This could very well be our donor engine along with a JDM Version 8 6-speed transmission.

The chassis should be going into modification for the engine and lengthening at the beginning of next week. We are going to push the rear wheels back 18 inches to provide some more room inside the chassis to tuck "stuff" inside. Not a lot of room in the chassis so we need some extra space for things like the paddle shifter compressor and tank.

I've also created a new rendering of the R1 with the wheels pushed back and more accurate openings for the pushrod suspension.

Updated version with added signals to headlights and also added reflector/illuminated side markers that are required for passing safety inspection. Will likely use the bugeye ones

What do you estimate the final wheelbase and track will be?

Good question. We did measure them a few months ago but I can't remember what they were. I need to take measurements again.

Drivetrain has now been secured! Picked up a Version 8 JDM EJ207 with about 90,000 KM and a Version 8 6-speed. Engine had 120 cold compression across all 4 cylinders and leakdown tests were great.

I'm actually going to be putting the JDM 6-speed that's currently in my Bugeye into this new R1 project. It has a locking front racing diff that has been a PITA for daily driving. It's like driving a 4x4 on dry pavement in a parking lot. So instead this locking front diff will end up being a locking rear diff in the rear engine config. There's no DCCD on my current transmission either which makes a quick block off plate an easy conversion.

The new 6-speed I picked up will be swapped into the bugeye for a more comfortable daily driver.
