Rear Differential Bushing Kit
Has anyone changed there Diff. bushings to poly? What was the result? How difficult was it to replace them? Was it worth it?

It's not difficult to pull them out at all. There's a how-to over on scoobymods. As for replacing them right now there are three routes you could take. From most expensive to least expensive here they are: 1) New STi mount. $100. This is a new mount unit, not just the bushings. Funny thing is the metal portion is the EXACT same as the metal portion on your car right now. They just happened to fill in the bushings completely, and used a slightly stiffer material. 2) Energy suspension bits. $70 (IIRC). You will need a press to install these as they are a single piece. 3) Superpro. $60 (IIRC). You will also need a press to install these also at they are a single piece. There is another option on the horizon. Tony and I have our quote for tooling for our design for replacement bushings. We still need to check to see if we can also make these work on the old school mount setup for the GC cars, but we should have that answer soon. You will not need a press to install them, and they will be cheaper than the other three listed above. |

Ahhh.... those. Some folks like them some folks don't. It seems to vary. We actually have a set here that we looked at but decided not to do anything with.

I have them. It removes the harsh "thump" you get from the back when shifting agressively. It also makes your car rattle INSANELY when you try and accelerate at low (<2000)RPMs. It will turn the engine bogging down vibration into a rattle so violent that it will make a radar detector shake itself right off the windshield.
Personally I like the fact that the rear end doesn't thump any more, but I don't know if its worth the extra rattle. The money is better spent on engine mounts or a transmission mount. |

Here's a link to a diagram of where those bushings go:
http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=415-1 I'd like to install that same set myself. Any good write ups on that by chance? No go on scobbymods... |
