Post complete engine built. Review

A couple of weeks ago we have finished our impreza EJ20 N/A engine build project.. we have added bpm overbored forged pistons, low C.R. and the rimmer top mount supercharger at 7 lbs of boost, a high flow fuel pump, brr7e 11 spark plugs, super itc (+3,+4,-4,-5,0) a begi 2005 fuel pressure rise, fuel pressure, EGT, air fuel gauges, ported and polished heads, polished rods, ligthened flywheel (machined), act clutch, oil cooler, all the engine was balanced form flywheel, crank, pistons, rods and the crank pulley, and we have added and MSD knocking alarm suited near the piston number 3... and of course this is a EJ20 n/a model with MAP sensor, so we have added the J&S fuel controller in order to clamping the voltage of MAP during boost.. and full exhaust and sold air intake to fender..

About settings, the starting point of the fuel pressure is 58 psi and the yield point is around 80-85 depending on gear and load...

There is no audible knocking, at any gear, or under any load, the car pulls like hell, we have tested it against, seat`s ibiza`s and golf`s gti`s turbos, a impreza 2.5 rs with safc, exhaust and intake, audi A3 with chip, so we estimate someting around 200 HP, during the next week we are going to test the car with the all new 2000 wrx impreza (218 hp) that now we have here in Venezuela... of course I have posted here because we have some doubts about the knocking activity registered from the msd alarm, in full micro. sensitive setting, there is some high activity, but we are quiet concerned we don`t know if actualy this is normal or what?, what I think is that all US impreza turbo cars tend to produce little knocknig at hig rpms, and when the fuel, air fuel ratio and EGT seems to be right measurements.. we are going to try with the 5 lbs pulley for the supercharger to see the knocking activity. I can rememeber that my car with the water injection running well, and the ITC and fuel needed, there was no any audible pinging.. bu maybe if I added the msd alarm I could get the same results.. or last test will include a msd alarm in the same position in my car while the supercharger is off, and the other test will be to run the water injection in this engine was have just build... we need to analyse the real fact that is provocating the knocking activity... on the other hand we have completed the breaking period, we have filled the engine with a very thing mineral motul oil... but in the morning after firing the engine, we can see some smoke out of the exhaust, but then nothing.. there has been some oil comsuption after 1000 miles (almost 1 liter), maybe is the oil too thing, or maybe there is something wrog with a gasket around the engine ( I don`t know, we will have to go to the mechanic).. have you known something about that, some smoke out your tail pipe after firing the engine first time in the morning????

My guess would be valve stem seals going bad. if it were rings, typically the smoke would be contant throughout a drive.

have you done a compression check?
