Default Hooking up my Mp3 Player to my Audio system, with no cassette deck

This question was probably asked before and there's probably a hundred new ways of doing it now, but im not very "car smart" so does any1 know how i can hook up my mp3 player to my car's audio system? I know that whole..cassette deck thing, where you put the tape in, but when i bought my car it didnt come with a cassette deck, just a cd player. My car is relatively new, i bought it in 2001..so its not toally antiquated or anything.. ANy1 have suggestions??? Please keep in mind: im not THAT car smart..so if your asking me to...take something apart...im proabably going to....be very confused. ANy help would be great though.

Is it an after market cd player? Which mp3 player is it? Some mp3 players you can buy an fm transmitter which i don't recommend. The other option is buy a connector (assuming it an after market) that plugs into you cd changer giving you an aux input, then just buy the RCA y cable then your set.

I have had good luck with the FM transmitter. If you decide to go that route get one that has the output frequencies preset, the dial in frequencies are difficult to keep tuned.

FM transmitter (no wires) - easiest to install, worst quality
FM modulator (wired to the antenna on the back of the HU) - Need to take apart part of the dash and install a wire, decent quality
Hard Wire to Aux input (requires RCA or CD changer input) - best quality, but you probably have a stock radio which majorly complicates things.

I think I'd recommend the FM modulator, but you still need to take apart part of the dash. Check out Scoobymods for some help there.

Considering the fact that you admitedly said you're not the most knowledgeable in the car audio department I would recomend a high quality fm transmitter, something along the lines of this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...744630588&rd=1

Okay, First off thank you for taking the time out and helping me. I apprciate it a lot. Yeah, the cd player is the "stock" one that came with the car. And my Mp3 player is the Dell DJ 20. Which...has limited accesories. The Fm Transmitter, how does that work exactly?

It has a low power transmitter, like a tiny radio station. You select the same frequency on the transmitter and your radio and get to hear your MP3s.

id say this is the easiest way of listening to mp3's in your car if you arent that car stereo savvy. yeah like what calcvictim said, its like the mp3 player is a radio station sending out a signal (eg. 106.1 fm) and when you tune your car stereo to 106.1fm you hear your mp3s.

OKay i Understand. Is the quality really that Bad? Anyone have a basis of comparison? And which brand would be the best? I saw a couple of Belkin brands....o and i was looking at that ebay thing CalVictim (THANk You) posted..and i was wondering, why are some only $5 and then some are $40? Is the price discrepancy because of the quaility of music i get? Should i buy the expensive one and expect more? OR does the chaeaper one the same quaility...?

i bought a $40 belkin FM modulator from best buy to use with my Ipod mini....it sucks...its hard finding an unused station, and when you do find one, you have to turn the volume up to 25+ to get any decent sound....

theres away to hook it up to the antenna?

it sounds as good as the radio sounds. the sound quality of a system is as good as its weakest link, which is the fm transmitter in this case. im not sure of the differences between the expensive vs cheap transmitters.
