depends on what you mean by more driveable.....

e85 is like 105-109 octane....so its like running race gas all the time. Therefore you can run more boost, more timing and a leaner AFR, which all equate to more power.

So if by "more driveable" you mean "make more power" then the answer is yes.

I think what you may be experiencing are some of the intake air temperature (IAT) compensations....when its hot out and your IATs get over 104* the ecu starts taking out 4-6* of timing.....so hot intake air in conjunction with 4-6* less timing will make your car feel like a turd when its hot outside.

what if you live in AZ, and the ambient temp is 109 at the moment... The pavement is like 150, and your engine bay feels like hell?!

^ Then the ecu will pull 8*. Your IAT's easily get over 150* while sitting at a stoplight with a CAI.....with a hot ram they go even higher.....but the most timing that table pulls in an unmodified IAT comp table is 8*, IIRC.

Seriously... I'm moving to Denver to get away from the ridicules heat/humidity in the SE. I don't know how people can be ok with sweating their asses off all times of the day.

^^ You dont like being in a perpetual state of swamp azz?

People always give people from the desert (AZ, NM, CA high desert) crap for saying "but its a dry heat" out here.....well once you've been in both environments you realize its true. I will take 115* and 2% humidity over 90* & 90% any day of the week.

^That could be true, but i've gotta imagine that there are a lot of people down there that smell like complete crap all of the time from all the sweating. At least up here we dont have to rely on AC 90% of the time

Here's some pics of the air/oil seperator, the top metal part seems to be the place that most of the oil condenses since that the part that get clogged after a couple weeks. I just cleaned it out after a month of neglect and it was NASTY! The water smells like alcohol, i've tried to light it on fire But its not flammable

As you can see on the last picture, there's almost no oil in the bottom, just a lot of water.

If there's any questions on routing LMK, its pretty simple though

i bet you get some baffling in there and you will catch some oil. also, i had a catch can setup similar to that one originally, and i traded it out for a vta setup because i was actually pressurizing the crankcase due to the hoses just not being able to evacuate the pressure fast enough.

Yeah, I'm debating on whether to try to make some kind of vent coming off of a valve cover or to make a vacuum pump out of a smog pump

Wisconsin isn't the SE We have crazy seasons here. Summer lasts forever, fall/spring only last 2 weeks each, and winter is the rest, but we only get snow once a year if that.

How many degrees of timing are you guys running while cruising at low loads, such as on the highway?

What kind of fuel economy are you getting just cruising on the highway? I average between 18-20 mpg with around 36* of timing

i'm averaging about 21mpg highway with 36*...i plan on playing with the timing a little bit to see if i can get anything better out of it, but i am pretty happy overall with what i have so far.

Try using the OL/CL time delay to increase gas mileage. Most people make them zero, but if you leave values in there between 1-5 you will stay in CL for small throttle changes.

Yeah, i've got mine zero'd for safe enrichment, I might add a little bit to the delays in the future, but at this point i'd like to see how the relation of timing equates the the fuel economy that people are experiences.

I'm seriously thinking about switching to e85. My motor is being built now and I'm already running DW 850's and walbro 255. I'm going to be shooting for low to mid 500's with the built motor and a stock location 30 or 35r.

What else would I need to get to run e85 at those power levels. More injector? Bigger pump? Fuel rails?

Thanks in advance to the army.

For mid 500 WHP you'd need about 1200cc injectors or larger (Injector dynamics 2000cc's would work nicely and leave room for future upgrades) You'd also need some sort of fuel supply system to keep up with the injector demands.
Is E85 readily available in FL?
