You guys crack me up!
SLR- What would be more practical? Mech or electric? With a good set of instructions I can do it. What brand are you guys running? Any suggestions on best pricing online? Thanks again

I am thinking of getting the Apexi gauges. I am going to get it through the group buy.<a href="http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Forum2/HTML/006829.html">http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Forum2/HTML/006829.html</a> They best price I could find was $280 + shipping. Does anyone have these?

Practical!? Hmmmm.... Mech is cheaper but involves running gas into the cab, negligible accuracy difference as well. Electronic are more expensive, however, they typically include some form of memory and warning function, are more accurate and eliminate running gas into the cab to read pressure, or gasoline or oil or whatever the the gauge is reading. As far as space goes, they are the same respective size gauge wise, however, electronic gauges may have additional sending units and/or sensors, these aren't cumbersome or large, but they need to be mounted; just food for thought. I went all electric with Greddy 60mm boost, EGT, AF, 52mm oil pressure, 80mm dual pressure. Boost was $205 in silver w/amber back lighting. SLR- |

Boost gauge install question
How difficult would you rate the install of a boost gauge(2k2 wrx)? The search function has been disabled so that is why I ask. Also, anyone have a great price for a quality gauge? I have ordered from Summitracing before and their prices were pretty good. Thanks.

Actually the search have been reenabled. But I believe the install isn't too tough (haven't done it yet).

mech or electronic?
I dont feel either is particularly involved, where you run into issues is placement, housing, and how far you want to go with lighting. In essence you are simply running a line, whether vacuum or signal, into the cabin through the fire wall to the gauge, and adding a t to the vac line from the front of the intake manifold, very accessible. Actually, my gauges are not meant to be seen by the public; currently I run my boost mounted to one of the knockouts left of the steering wheel, when I park, I pop it off and throw it in the glove box. The crazy gauge schema is a'la remote cd changer. No giant oversized suby stereo = a four gauge panel in its stead. Nothing flashy, and you can pop a cover over the gauges ( If you didn't keep procrastinating your way out of having the cover cast ). No flash, no rice, purely utilitarian. SLR- |

Hehe - SLR - I was going to hide gauges in the glove box, etc. But then I realized I was driving a <FONT COLOR="blue">bright blue WRX</FONT c> and figured I had already achieved "flashy".
Ordinary people, and neighbors have walked up to me and knew it was the "turbo WRX". I figured a 2 1/16 guage wouldn't hurt. - Kris |

Defi hood is probably the best you can get for 60mm(2 3/8" (?)) gauges. The 2nd groupbuy kinda fell apart and is being reorganized again....announcement of how to join if not in already comes Thursday(tomorrow)
