Bad Tune Or Bad Luck ?! :(
HEY GUYS I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TUNING (ERR LEARNING TO TUNE) MY CAR. I ONLY GOT AS FAR AS MESSING WITH LEARNING VIEW AND ROMRIADER LOGGER BEFORE SHE SPUN A BEARING
I AM WONDERING IF IT IS BECAUSE OF SLIGHT KNOCK ON THE TUNE OR JUST A BAD BLOCK. BOUGHT IT USED , OWNER SAID IT WAS SITTING FOR A WHILE BUT WAS WORKING BEFORE. IDK, THATS THE GAME OF BUYING USED. MODS: STOCK INTERNALS,5 SPD, VF30, HKS INTAKE ON A PERRIN ELBOW, TURBO XS TOP MOUNT, STI PINKS, TGV DELETES, COBB DOWNPIPE, CATLESS UP, STOCK EX MANI, MISHIMOTO RAD. IM USING A 2.0 TACTRIX CABLE. ANYWAYS HERE ARE SOME UPLOADS OF WHAT I WAS ABLE TO GET BEFORE SHE WENT. THE LEARNING VIEW SHOT WAS TAKEN ABOUT A WEEK AGO... (I WILL GET A NEW SHOT WHEN IT GETS TOWED TO MY HOUSE ) https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9-j...it?usp=sharing I DID THIS PULL ABOUT 2 HRS BEFORE SHE WENT... (NEVER SEEN KNOCK ON ANY PULLS UNTILL THIS LAST ONE) https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9-j...it?usp=sharing

You should upload to google drive. People dont want to sign up for an accout to view others logs. Especially if they are viewing from their phone. Not using all caps will get you less flamage as well.

Thnx !
Good. Always on top of it. Full synthetic 5-30 quaker state. That's why I was sure there was detonation or just a bad block. |

Heres an update guys. got my car towed and pulled up a screenshot of lv. looks a lot different right ?!
Would the spun rod bearing make the ecu think there is knock and correct it or is this what was actually going on before ? IAM = 0 knock = -11.95 !! https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9-j...it?usp=sharing Last edited by HowFake; 04-10-2013 at 01:59 PM. |

Most synthetic 5w30 break down to 20w oil in the turbo subarus. MANY break down to lower viscosity in less than 2000 miles. There may be other contibuting factors, it's not like this kind of oil causes rod knock in 3 pulls or anything, it's a cumulative effect over time.

Most any 0W40 or 5W40. Look for ACEA A3/B3 cert. This is a european shear toughness cert that will ensure you have suitably tough oil. There are a select few 30W oils that have this, but not very many, most are built for the american certs, which are primarily fuel economy oriented.

Rotella t6 is popular for our cars (5w-40) . anyway, looked at your log, you got a lot of knock in boost at redline....

Oh ok. Heard a lot of good things about rotella. I've never had any problems with this on my other wrx I've owned.
Yea ... the weird thing is over a month span of looking thru logs, it was never there before. |

Knock in boost like that is no beuno. You must've had some other issue that caused it
