Thumbs up ECU Recall??? Whoa..

I just got a letter from S O A concerning a recall on my ECU. Actually, it's more of a reprogram than a recall.

Vehicles covered include certain..

my00-my01 2.5L Legacy and Outback models w/automatic
my00-my02 2.2L&2.5L Impreza models manual or automatic
my01-my02 2.5L Forester manual or automatic

The Engine Control Module software logic for the circuit that controls the front oxygen (air/fuel ration) sensor in your vehicle may have been programmed incorrectly during production.

Sweet!

Maybe now the 3500rpm stutter will go away.. and maybe I'll have better MPG..

hmm... recall... I'm wondering the same thing about the A/F gauge. I have it tapped into the ECU on the second O2 sensor. Ya think I should take that out before going to the dealership? I'd also like to see something officially about this instead of just word of mouth.

Not all Subaru's are being recalled only certain VIN #'s. I checked with my dealer!

I got it done the day before SOA released it. I had been in there for the 3500 rpm miss like 3-4 times and was working with the area service rep. It cures the miss, FINALLY!!! Also the car feels better overall. It took no time to reprogram. Someone needs to gank the program and reverse engineer it. May show how to reprogram everything desired in the suby computer.

I got it done like a month ago. I have been touring Europe though and just got back. Saw LOTS of really cool cars, like a McLaren F1, as well as others. Lotus elises look really cool too. Didn't see an STI though, couldn't find the Suby dealer in London. Bum

Three days later and no 3500-4000rpm hesitation!!!! HOLY CRAP! It's like having a new car!!!!

Well, maybe I'm exaggerating.. but still it's NICE...and it idles so much smoother..

Can't wait to check my gas mileage after a couple of tanks..
