Walking back to my car after leaving the bank, an old man, probably in his late 60's, in his Kia rolled down his window..

Him: Nice car man!

Me: lol Thanks!

Him: I'll bet that thing ain't any fun is it?
Smiled, then drove away.

I smiled and chuckled to myself.

Makes me happy that even an old men can appreciate these 'hipster'-mobiles when they come across them.

I get a lot of love from a really diverse crowd. From the elderly, xtreme sporters, truck people, youngens and import owners.

Guy driving yells out his window and asks how fast my car is. I reply with low 13s.

He says. " ill eat a raw egg if that car goes that fast!"

This is me talking to my wife a few days before buying my WRX.

"As long as I stay below boost, I should get good MPG since it's a 4 cylinder."

Boy was I wrong.

Wrong about what? I've been getting a steady 23-25 mpg measured at the pump with 50/50 hwy/cty driving with occasional spirited highway pulls. The max mpg I've achieved in this car was 29.7** mpg measured at the pump after a full tank of highway driving. Not necessarily bad in my book. My Datsun D-21 v6 pickup makes my car seem like a Prius in comparison as far as gas consumption

You should let me borrow your radar detector seeing as you aren't using it.

Random guy: Wow, is that the new Scion!?
Me: ah.. no its a Subaru.
Random guy: A what?
Me: Subaru, WRX.
Random Guy: ...
Me: an Impreza, like on the movie Due Date- you know the car they rented and ended up driving off the highway??
random Guy: oh yeah!
Me: yeah, its like that only a bit faster.

Strangely that is the second time I've had that conversation with a random dude.

Last week (Thursday night maybe?) I was on my way back home at around 11pm, and I'm doing 36 in a 35 in the left lane. Suddenly a ricer Jetta, silver with blue lightning/zig zag shapes on the side with lime green accents on the lightning, comes rolling up just past my right, then slows down and sits in my blind spot for a few minutes. Then pulls forward and just drives next to me for another minute. I look over at him, it's some bro with a flatbill and his seat leaned back looking at me. I hold my right arm out toward my window, give him a big thumbs down for ~30 seconds, then he turned off on some road and made a U turn.

Literally just watched my girlfriends friend get into the back seat through the front door. I walked out and opened the rear door for her...

I drove over 300 miles to New Orleans and still had a quarter of a tank when I got there while stage 2. I managed to stay out of boost the whole trip.

How? By unhooking the controller so it won't close the waste gate?

Don't get me wrong, but I got great mileage when I went on a long trip(29) but normally only get like 21 otherwise.
