You should have the wiring under the hood, but I don't believe any USDM car has the last stretch of wiring out to the front bumper. If you do you're lucky!


Definitely could be done, I've seen on the Forester forum where someone utilized the factory backup cam to record the rear. However the field of view on the front cam is really wide, a car 10 feet away is like a speck in the distance. It's really just suited for stuff that's close to the front end.

Dude thank you for putting in the time to find out! I really appreciate that a lot. That's a bummer to find out about the lack of a video input. Guess I'll just have to settle for a separate display if I want the front view.

Thanks again to Andrew for making this all possible. I just installed my harness this past weekend. I bought the camera a few months ago in anticipation to do this install. The hardest part of the installation was getting the bumper back on and aligned, but overall it was very simple to do.

Just a quick update...it's been 10 months now and I'm still loving the front cam. I use it every single day when parking or pulling in the garage.

Also I'm not ignoring your PMs, just been really busy with work and life for the past 2 months***55357;***56837; will get all of them responded to in the coming days before my inbox fills up lol.

It should, since they have SRH's so judging by the original write up, it will have th e harness necessary to hook this up to it. I am definitely going to bookmark this and hook it up to my STI as well, I am awful with judging the distance from front of the car to the curb when I park so I just have been backpacking since I got the car lol

This is a great thread and a nice feature for our cars. I just ordered all the parts to add this to my '18 STi Limited...and perfect timing as it will be my daily driver starting today.

front view goes to MDF screen by default. Would need to re-route that video feed to your pioneer.

Cool feature, yes very useful for parking, but can it be turned on while driving as well? Both off road and on? Thinking very useful and cool for trackcross and also trail driving to get the view RIGHT in front of the vehicle.

Is there a way to hook it up to a recording device to capture the video?

You can turn it on while driving by tapping the MFD button, but it only works under 15MPH or so IIRC, and only stays up momentarily then goes away. It also comes on right when you shift from R to 1st gear momentarily. It does not stay on all the time nor is there a way to set it that way. As far as setting to a recording device, if you have a device which can record analog RCA video feeds, I can provide information to tap the stock wires at the MFD to record the video in-cabin to said device. It would require a bit of custom circuitry to power the camera full time, but again, it would not display on the MFD during this recording. Just PM me if that sounds acceptable.

Mine turns on any time I press the MFD button, no matter the speed and stays on for about 1-2 minutes. '19 STI
