![]() So I have been looking around a little, and there is a ton of information about doing jdm swaps and stuff in these cars, but i havent been able to get all my questions solved. So I was hoping to lay out the questions/plan here and get a straight up answer. Hoping you guys can help me out.
I purchased a 2006 subaru legacy 2.5 i non turbo with 240,xxx miles on it for my 16 year old son. It needed a ton of work, and got it all done, and the car was running great, until.....the thermostat stuck and it over heated, and hurt the bottom end. These motors being AVCS are a nightmare to find, and super expensive. So I have been looking for a while and i need to pull the trigger now. I am thinking about getting one of the JDM 2.5 ej 253 AVCS engines from one of those importers. Heres my questions..... 1. is it a good idea to get one of the jdm engines? 2. Do I or should i swap the usdm heads on to the jdm block? I want to do the head gaskets while it is out of the car. Any issues getting head gaskets for a jdm engine or are the usdm ones the same? 3. If I swap the USDM intake manifold and sensors on over will I have any issues with the egr stuff? I plan on swapping all the sensors and stuff over, use the usdm wiring and computer. Any thoughts?
