Default Failure in your Blouch turbo?

Hi guys,

I have recently been considering purchasing a new turbo for my STI from Blouch. After further review, I have been hearing a lot of negative feedback, consisting of Blouch turbo failures, and inconsistent results in their performance when compared to their ratings. With all of this talk, I want to get a poll going for how many of you have experienced any of this (with the necessary services done to the turbo oil lines/filter.) If you experienced a failure, please specify how long it happened after you got it. If you experienced a lack in results based on its ratings, please specify which model etc. If you experienced no issues, please specify how long you have been running it.

Thank you in advance to those of you who can help me in deciding whether Blouch is the right turbo for me.

Other than the IWG sucking, my Dom3 has performed fine for close to 8000 miles now. I haven't any of the infamous oil leaking issues many others have had.

If you plan track time I can say that I have seen a Dom3 crack at the exhaaust housing multiple times. Not sure if they have resolved this issue yet. WoopWoopSti has pictures, I did not seach but they are around.

Just voted; My Dom3 cracked in half on the track late last year. Even though it was waaaaaaay out of warranty Blouch fixed it for free and upgraded it to the new 10cm housing without even being asked! The only thing I had to pay for was shipping to them. This was by far the best customer service experience that I have ever had with a performance parts vendor.

I'd say I have heard of about 20 negative experiences, either regarding a failure or the turbo not performing as it should have. For example, I recall someone who was running around 400 hp on a turbo (can't remember which one), and then went to switch it out for one of the Blouch turbos which was expected to produce more power, but the Blouch results were not as expected, so they went back to their old setup.

im going on 16k miles on my td05 20g. I have nothing but good things to say about blouch and their product. there are a few vendors that lways stick out as having great customer service...blouch is one of them. buy the turbo, you wont regret it.

have had a 20g from blouch for two years. Put 20k on the turbo so far and it sees 24psi routinely and it has been fine

I can't really say whether or not if it exceeded my expectations, because I was never able to use it to it's full potential. I had a Dom 4.0R w/ about 14k miles on it. The shop that has my car right now said the CHRA is cracked. Just sent blouch an email right now, we'll see what happens.

I've heard nothing but great things about Blouch. Everyone's going to have an issue here and there, but I think you'd be really hard pressed to find a more reputable turbo manufacturer.

I know that, I've dealt with them before and they've always treated me right . If I was staying stock location, I'd definitely get another blouch turbo no doubt, but I'm going rotated borg warner.

Blouch makes one of the best turbos you can buy for the subaru line. I don't know who you have been talking to about that had a bad experience with them.

I just worked on a car with a brand new Dom 3 XTR. It had major IWG issues. The bushing pressed into the hotside that the WG arm passes through dropped. The press fit dimensions were way off.
The dropped bushing caused the WG flapper to sit too low and partially uncover the hole. Also the dropped bushing caused the WG arm to interfere with the casting and jam the WG open or shut.

It was not my turbo. I was simply helping the gentleman that owned the car/turbo. AFAIK Blouche took care of them. Every manufacturer lets a bad one out now and then. It is how they handle it from there that speaks volumes to me.

I've had the dom2.5 (non-XTR) for about 40k Kilometers now. Still performs as it did during day one. Gone through two hard winters where temps were -40F for a few weeks. Great reliability on low boost - 19psi.
