Default Hello STi/P1 susp. and brake install!

Well this weekend was pretty damned fun!
First I will run down the list of installed parts.

Here we have STi ver.5 struts, Prodrive/Eibach P1 springs, STi grp N top mounts, Brembo replacement rotors, and Subaru replacement brake pads.

I started the installation process at ~3:15pm and ended at ~11:30pm.

We started by tearing everything off. Disassembling the stock struts to scavenge the spring mounts. Then I assembled the new suspension. This was the 2nd hardest part of the whole deal, was putting the first strut together. Trying to figure out a system to line up the springs and tops.

(me feeding the strut into place)

Then came installing the rotors... WOW. This part shouldn't have been hard to perform, but the right side rotor was seemingly welded to the hub. I broke a cog puller in the process, then sprayed the hell out of it with WD40. Whacked it a good few with a small sledge, then she came loose.

Everything else was putting nuts back on...

This is a terrible picture, but it kinda shows how low it is now. I presume a 1.x inch drop.

And for the overall impression: I can't believe it. I have ridden in this identical setup, but riding isn't driving. When I took out for the first ride, I couldn't believe. ULTIMATE! Anyone thinking about it, DO IT!

Thank you for your time.

DJ 9,

Great decision on the P1 setup. I just blew out mine, and switching over to KYB AGX struts (retaining springs tho). You'll love the handling traits. Those are big brakes!

How did you blow your setup out?

I would think this setup would be bulletproof.
Oh, the rotors are stock sized also, the pic is decieving...

haha
don't panic.
I am a pretty aggressive driver, and I had the P1s in the car for about 50,000 miles already. I auto-x, canyon carve, and pull donuts all the time. It was about time they went.....they're not blown per se, but there is a lot of stiction in the struts. I wasn't getting full travel anymore. This is normal for performance oriented struts.

No no, I wasn't paniccing... I was just really puzzled as to how you wore them out.
Yeah... I already have 60k on the car. The stockers almost lasted that long. So I think these should last me for some time!

I have the same setup, and it only gets better the more you get used to it! I'm quite happy w/ the balance between everyday driving comfort and performance in the canyons.

Also, getting a professional alignment suited to your driving style is key.

Yeah, about that. What do you have your's set at?
I don't drive my car during the week any more due to school. So I am getting it aligned this Friday.

Should I go with stock or something like this?

When I was still using the P1, my settings were gleaned from Rallispec's car (tarmac setup).

Now that I've transitioned to P1/AGX combo I'm using the settings from Whiteline, Race. They are working great for me so far.
