Subaru Stars How long have you had your car? Still in love?

Historically, I tire of cars fairly easily...

But for some reason my seemingly thinly insulated, rattly, unrefined (when compared to my previous Audi a4) 2016 Limited WRX has held my love and affection for 3 years now and counting...

I do not drive it daily, but whenever I do I am happy every shift of the way...reaffirming my feelings for it around every corner. Especially during the colder months with every trip to the slopes...

How long have you all had your subies? Do you feel the same way after time has passed?

Feel free to post a pic of your cars so that we may all bask in the glory.

I had my 05 Forester for 4 years and was ready for a sports car by then (well, more like a manual). I had my 08 WRX for 4 years and was itching to trade it in after 2, but waited. My 13 STI was just too expensive and I traded it in underwater after 7 months.

My BRZ I had for 4.5 years until it was totaled. I needed to get a 4dr instead b/c of family, but even now that my BRZ is gone and I couldn't get another, I still miss it and I'm still in love with it.

That little NA 4cyl D4S car was just simply brilliant. It was my DD and I loved every moment driving it. The longer I owned it, the more I loved it. The handling was absolutely superb and made every turn of the wheel and every press of the throttle a joy. It was the best Subaru I've ever owned.

I have had my WRX for 2 months (and 8k miles) now, and it's a keeper for sure. It's no BRZ, though. I want to keep it well beyond paying it off even still. It's way way better in handling than my 08 WRX was (of course) and better than the STI even. It has potential.

I have had my 06 2.5i wagon for... 13 years now. Still fun as heck to drive. I have modded the suspension and the brakes for even more fun on the back roads. Sure after 13 years.. some parts are starting to wear out and need to be replaced but I still enjoy driving it every day.
My plan is to keep driving it until the wheels fall off.

I’ve had mine for 3-years and I still get that “first time I’ve driven it excitement” every time I drive it. I’ve never had a car do that to me.

Had my ‘02 Outback for 4.5 years and sold it..... big regret right there. But now have my moms old ‘11 Outback for almost a year now and love it. It isn’t the most powerful, best handling, or best anything but it works wonders for me. I live in my car for at least 6 months a year; this is due to average rent where I am being over 40% of my paycheck. So the Outback is great for that. I’ll definitely have this car until it stops running and then some.

I've had my 16 STI since Feb 2016, and I still love it a lot. Enough that I bought a 2019 WRX Limited last summer and still in love with both cars.

Originally I pre ordered a 2018 WRX Premium in WRB. Waited 2 months for it to arrive from the factory and only had it about 2 months with about 4600 miles. Then an a@ hole rear ended me at a stop light while doing 40 mph, and totaled my new car. I ended up losing money on it and couldn't afford a new one again, so I had to settle for a used 2015 WRX base model. I really loved the '18 , now I am waiting until the new gen to arrive.

I bought my 02 WRX at the end of summer. It seems like every week it needs something new. This car is totally stock. The damn TGVs are giving me fits.Bought new sensors and they are still throwing the light.I know most would say that its what you get for having a 17 y/o car but my last 02 didn't need a thing and seemed well built.I still love the car but it is really testing my patience.

I have owned my Legacy since new, thus......coming up on 21 years.
It does what I need, mods made it fit my needs better.
Yes, it's been fun.
Yes, it's had issues.

My son was driving it for about 6 months, even he (23yo, owns a 04 STi swap into an earlier WRX chassis) thought it was fun, even being an older Legacy wagon.

But, 21 years later, I still have it.

I bought my wrx new in 2010. I daily drove it on a 25 mile each way commute for seven years. I started working from home two years ago, so she's seen far less miles recently. Did a full rebuild last year so expecting many more years of use.

I love my car still...

I bought my 2011 sti new and I still love it. Slowly modding it over the years. Mostly suspension work. I can't realistically think of another car I would rather have.

I have had my 16 wrx for about 3 years to the day. I have done some light modifying along the way to keep it fresh and am just as, if not more happy with it as the time goes by. Maint on it is super easy and I love the driving characteristics. Its been very reliable. The only issue I've had was a stuck is a rear brake caliper.

I bought my 2016 STI used almost exactly a year ago due to my Genesis Coupe being horrible in NY winters. I test drove a 2015 WRX limited and loved it, was ready to sign the papers and they told me someone had put a deposit on it. The next day I ran into this gem I now own. The previous owner took really good care of the car. It was the base model with HK/Nav and push button upgrade. He had the car wrapped in xpel and it has Perrin engine dress up items as well as led high beams installed. I'm now FBO with a Pro tune and couldn't be happier.

I've had my STI for over two years now and I still get giddy when I walk up to it. It took a long time for me to get my "realistic dream car." The wait was worth it.

I had an 05 outback for 4 years and loved it. A dear friend and his family really needed an affordable/ reliable car so I sold it to them but I miss it dearly. They are great cars

I've had my STi going on 11 years now and have used it as my DD for about 10.5 years.
I still love the car, the rumble, and I enjoy driving it every time. I continue upgrading and maintaining the car on a consistent basis!

I know peeps on this forum with older Subaru, the list that have owned THAT Subaru longer then me (as stated, bought brand new in spring 1998) is really short.......
FWIW......

Last fall, we sold our "bought new" 1999 Impreza L wagon (which my son drove a few years once he got his license) with something like 240K miles on it.....
It didn't owe us a penny, did quite a lot of things over it's life for us.
