I think it's going to cost considerably less to buy today, than the 22B did back then. Not even comparable.

The new hybrid drivetrains could legit make excellent performance vehicles. The Corolla could be 340hp with the 1.6T and the new 5th gen hybrid. If they had the right tuning on the torque split device, it could instantly have the engine at max power basically all the time. The only downside is that the 5th gen hybrid still only has a 40hp motor in the back so you would be giving up the RWD characteristics that the fully mechanical GR4 Yaris has.

Perhaps they could install the Hybrid motor like the new Tundra. Between the engine and Transmission.

Not my cup of tea for my intended use (fun DD) but I imagine there are people that want a primarily track car with the capabilities of a DD that this modification would suit.

A (likely more than) $15k transmission swap in a car in this price bracket is also a bit spendy in my mind, but again, if you want that sequential gearbox and have the money, enjoy.

I do enjoy the noise though...
