Default Oregon McDonald's Calling Drive Thru Orders To North Dakota

Restaurant Appears To Be "Outsaucing" Customers Drive-Thru Meals

HERMISTON, Ore. --

The McDonald's restaurant in Hermiston, Oregon appears to be "outsaucing" customers drive-thru meals.

The restaurant on Highway 395 has outsourced one of the most important jobs at the drive-through window -- order taking.

When a customer drives through, they'll be patched through to Grand Forks, North Dakota to place the order. Why? Because the minimum wage in North Dakota is $5.15, compared to Oregon's $7.25.

Tim Nesbit is head of Oregon AFLCIO. He says this undercuts Oregon's minimum wage by more than $2 an hour.

A McDonald's media relations person in Illinois, where the corporate headquarters is based, never returned a phone call to the AP.

It's what the retards in this state get for continously voting to raise the minimum wage.

ahh to good, I hate dealing with those tech support guys. Not only is the audio signal unclear since they probably skimp on teh bandwidth feeding all the calls to India, but 1/2 the time their english is ab F-en joke.I'm still curious when they will to realize that V and B are pronounced differently.

I heard about McDonald's "testing" this out in Chicago area about 2 years ago. At the time it struck me as genius. In non-rush hours, one employee at the call center could probably support 3 or 4 McDonalds. Throw in some voice-over-IP to keep the telco cost down, and they are saving big bucks.

They can't even get my order right when I order in the first window 20 feet away, how do they expect to make it right from a different state?
