Downpipe question. Please help.
I just recently took off the aftermarket exhaust that was on my WRX becasue the flex pipe broke. I put the stock exhaust back on for the time being until I can buy a new DP. My stock downpipe has that bellhouth shape, But half of it is a solid plate of metal, Blocking what Im pretty sure is the wastegate on the TD04 turbo. Correct me if im wrong. The downpipe on the aftermarker exhaust has that shape bellmouth shape to bolt to the turbo, But is completely wide open, exposing the wastegate to the same tube as the exhaust. Can someone explain why this is, Why they are different and any issues I may have.

That's just how the stock downpipe comes. So its totally normal and totally fine as long as your running a stock map. The blank plate just doesn't allow as much exhaust to exit as quickly as the bellmouth downpipe. So a little less HP.
