Default RHD swap gurus...

seriously considering a rhd swap into my 06 wrx... it will be done. although.. i would be buying a 02 clip... which is a cable driven throttle... comapred to my drive by wire (electronic) throttle body... so the question i have is... i can possible convert my engine harness and throttle body to cable... or... some how figure out how to retain my driveby wire and rewire the dash harness for it... (which i would like to try avoid) anyone know how i can go about this? i would be swaping rhd components only... retaining my current engine. rhd dash/steering rack/crossmemeber w/dash harness would be being swapped in.

Ive seen people that just exten their current harness for the swap. Or you would have to convert to 16 bit ecu with a cable intake manifold and engine harness. Then get it tuned for the 2.5. But converting to an older ecu may pose smog and inspection issues depending on your sates laws.

I have built a few cars from rhd to LHD. the easiest is to replace the entire electrical harness. shell, and doors. with an electrical harness from a lhd 06 electronic trottle in you case

back door harness can work sometimes.

Your better off keeping the DBW setup and just pulling the wires and making a sub harness. also, there are lots of little things that you need to be aware of when doing this yourself. You need to know how to weld, your going to be a plug welding fool.. Brace everything in your car, windshield pillar top and bottom, door pillars. it will move. Things nobody thinks about but you will run into.

Lots and Lots of wiring.
Gas door release if applicable,
Trunk cable,
hood release cable,
you would need to get the JDM Right window regulator if you want One touch power down,
Rewire for the power windows and mirrors, and the JDM window switches up front.
AC lines, I had to custom make the ones for my civic.
Repin the rear turn signal wiring in the harness,
mirrors,
and i am sure you will run into parts that you want to replace along the way as you do your build.


When I did my EG hatch, I had the car fully stripped, and had the RHD firewall and an SI roof skin done and welded in a weekend with the help of some friends.. The two longest parts of my conversion were... Wiring.. I had close to 100 hours into wiring. But I also converted a CX model hatch into a supercharged SI model, my dash harness was cut at the ECU so I had to trace all my wires, and also added for power windows, mirrors and sunroof which were not in the original wiring. Also my Supercharger had its own set of issues as it was not designed for a RHD car and I had to move some things to clear the Blower.

When I was finished, I had a fully functioning RHD civic with all power options, Retained full function of the SRS system, and had the pride that I built what I wanted.. But I also work at a bodyshop so I have access to quality welders, a measuring system, frame rack and lift.

You also need to pay close attention when your cutting things apart.. think about how your going to weld thnigs back together and know which layers of metal to drill only the spot weld or drill all the way through, or from which side to drill. The seam sealer is a PITA to get off, requires heat, scraping, wire wheels, and a host of other nasty things to get the metal clean.

Subarus don't have to swap firewalls. It's actually not a a lot of welding but there is som involved. Mainly for pedal mounts

I Finished All My Rhd Swap In The Car Check Out My Thread Bugeye Rhd Swap Allmost Complete/ An See My Progress....

As For The Switch No Pin Out But If U Use The Factory Book U Can Change The Pin Out To Make Everything Work And Just Put The Two Back Window Together It Work Fine....as For The Door Locks Get A Little Three Way Toggle And Mount It At The Top Of The Switch Pannel There Just Barely Enough Room But I Thing I Trimmed It A Bit Work Perfect And Doesnt Look To Hateful..
