Default 2019 Chevrolet Blazer getting four-banger and V6

If the name rings a bell it’s because the Blazer and TrailBlazer models have been in the heart of fans ever since their demise – and now Chevrolet is willing to restore the moniker to former glory.

The midsize SUV is being resurrected with the glorious nameplate in order to satisfy the insatiable quench for more and more crossovers – and Chevrolet is reportedly going to come out with the modern reincarnation next year for the 2019 model year. Unfortunately for diehard fans, this time around the Blazer isn’t going to cater to the off-road enthusiast segment, instead focusing on the much broader crossover, family-hauler sector. And according to the latest report, we even know the powertrains of choice.

The entry-level model will be powered by a nothing to write home about naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Go for higher specked versions and you’ll get larger wheels, angular exhaust tips and a 3.6-liter V6 from the North American family. The specifications point towards the Blazer sharing its DNA with the second-generation GMC Acadia, a bold looking crossover with room for seven and a good price in base builds. The Blazer might also share components with the Traverse (pictured), but come in smaller size so it’s yet unknown if the bowtie will also fit it with a third row of seats.
