Default 2021 Buick Envision

Buick on Friday provided a first look at its redesigned 2021 Envision arriving at dealerships early next year.

The small crossover SUV features a bolder, more expressive look than its somewhat staid predecessor which has been on sale since 2016 and never managed to really excite the market. Sales in the United States have averaged about 30,000 units annually.

Buick is saving most of the 2021 Envision's details until a full reveal later this year though we can confirm that a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 and 9-speed automatic will be standard. It isn't clear if there will be any more power than the 252 horsepower generated by the 2020 Envision's 2.0-liter turbo-4.

Other standard features on the 2021 Envision will be popular electronic driver-assist features such as automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, rear park assist, and a rearview camera.

Buyers will be able to add a semi-autonomous park assist feature, as well as a surround-view camera, and head-up display. Though it hasn't been mentioned, all-wheel drive is likely to also be an available feature over standard front-wheel drive.

Buick has also confirmed that its upmarket Avenir trim will be made available on the Envision for the first time.

The current Envision was the first Chinese-made vehicle sold by General Motors in the U.S. It isn't clear yet whether the redesigned Envision will also be sourced from China or assembled locally.

Looks like they've finally caught up with the shapes and lines of... everyone else. Not a bad thing at all, by the way. I do like the style.

Yeah, good job to GM. That looks like a proper modern car finally.

One of the biggest holdouts on GM SUVs were their wheel/tire selection. Look across the lineup. They always have smaller rims, bigger tires. This one finally looks like they've figured out that angle too. This new 2021 looks like it's finally going to catch up the commercial "That's a Buick?"

They're going to bust through that I think. Need to see interior.

I mean technically it's a redesign of an existing CUV, but yeah; C'est U-V.

Pre, the people have voted with their wallets (or long term loans) - CUV's for all! car enthusiasts be damned!

So a Buick Blazer. Looks good. Personally, I probably won't choose one out of the lineup at Hertz.

It's nice looking. It looks like a Mazda and VW got it on.

Yes, it looks like everything else, and that's a good thing for Buick. But, comparing this to the blazer, it's a bit different.... everywhere. It may use the same underpinnings, but floorboards up, it's all different. All the pillars, angles, sheet meddler, door openings, even the interior (found those finally) are different. If anything, it's much more closer in looks to the Caddy XT4. (And I still think it looks better).

Continuing to make festering pile of turds (my pic above) would have been a death knell and now people may just consider a Buick. I would over a Blazer and save money compared to a Caddy.

2021 Buick Envision Interior Revealed In Brand New Photo

When General Motors announced the all-new 2021 Buick Envision for the United States and for China, it only shared images of the exterior of the overhauled crossover, leaving the appearance of the cabin a mystery, until now. Brand new photos officially shared by GM in China reveal the 2021 Buick Envision interior, including that of the range-topping Avenir trim level as well as less models. Both will be sold as the Buick Envision in the North American market, while getting the Envision S moniker in China.

The images show what we previewed in spy shots last year: the second-generation Envision will have a state-of-the-art cabin that’s full of luxury and technology.

Aesthetically, the 2021 Buick Envision interior features the latest interpretation of the brand’s interior design language, characterized by an asymmetric and unique layout.

Particularly noteworthy is the large multimedia screen embedded in an original configuration with an 18-degree inline towards the driver in order to facilitate readability and usability.

The dash is divided into two dominant sections, with the display, instrument panel, and exterior air vents being part of the first section at the top, and climate and vehicle controls at the second section lower on into the center stack, flowing into center console. A set air vents divides these two sections.

Meanwhile, the dash distinctly separates the driver and front passenger sections. There’s also a single armrest that’s divided into two sections, along with a gear selection mechanism that uses triggers/buttons identical to that found in the the Chinese-market Enclave.

In addition, the 2021 Envision interior offers ample space with a capacity for five passengers and more than 20 storage spaces. The feeling of spaciousness is enhanced by the largest panoramic sunroof in its segment, providing an open and comfortable viewing experience for occupants. The Avenir range-topper has an interior finished in Ivory White and Jazz Black, with high quality materials and finishes.

The all-new 2021 Buick Envision will go on sale in late 2020 in China and in early 2021 in North America. All the details related to equipment and features will be revealed closer to launch in both markets.

Envision will be produced at the SAIC-GM Jinqiao South plant to supply both the Chinese domestic market as well as the United States, Canada and Mexico. The vehicle rides on the GM E2 platform shared most directly with the first-generation Cadillac XT4.

Bravo Buick! Arguably one of the better GM interiors I've seen in a very, very long time. Better than the current Caddys even.

I have to admit it's a pretty attractive interior which is something you rarely say about a GM product. I'm sure the 60-75 age demographic that buys Buicks will be pleased.

This one is aimed at a younger crowd it looks like. 50s maybe?

Their pricing and advertising has to be good to get a younger demographic... but so far, looks good. Just the stigma in the way.

Default 2021 Buick Envision To Offer Twin-Clutch All-Wheel-Drive System:

2021 Buick Envision To Offer Twin-Clutch All-Wheel-Drive System:

When GM announced the all-new 2021 Buick Envision in May, it stated that it will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0L engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, without providing any other technical details. Since then, GM has reported on several details associated with the new Envision, including outlining the specifics of the vehicle’s suspension system. And now, we have some new details to share, this time about the optional all-wheel-drive system that will be on offer.

Front-wheel-drive will be standard on the 2021 Buick Envision – something that was well-expected given the new vehicle’s transverse-engined roots. However, the new compact crossover will also offer an optional all-wheel-drive system with an active twin-clutch configuration.

The twin-clutch design of the optional AWD system in the 2021 Buick Envision is capable of independently controlling torque to each rear wheel based on road conditions. In inclement driving environments, such as wet, muddy or snowy conditions, the twin-clutch system delivers superior traction and vehicle control by reducing torque to a wheel where slip is detected, and diverting it to a wheel with greater traction.

The system is also capable of enhancing handling and cornering in dry-road conditions. The twin-clutch setup provides additional control around curves by sending torque to the outside wheel that is experiencing more traction-enhancing downward force, instead of the inside wheel.

Some might notice that this configuration appears to be identical to that seen in the Cadillac XT4 – and they’d be exactly right. After all, the two small crossovers share their architecture and general underpinnings.

Regardless of its drive wheels, the 2021 Buick Envision will be powered by the turbo 2.0L LSY four-cylinder engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Production of the 2021 Buick Envision will take place at the Jinqiao plant in Shanghai, and the very first units are scheduled to begin arriving at U.S. dealers in the first half of the 2021 calendar year.

Additionally, the 2021 Envision represents the second generation for the Envision nameplate. The vehicle will slot between the Buick Enclave and Buick Encore / Encore GX in the brand’s lineup, and it will be called the Envision S in China. Meanwhile, the Envision Avenir will be the top trim level, representing the first time that the Avenir moniker will grace the Envision nameplate. About a year after launch, the new Envision will be joined by a three-row model called the Envision GX.

Upcoming Envision GX will be a three-row variant of the 2021 Envision

The 2021 Envision will ride on the GM E2 platform shared most directly with the Cadillac XT4. Other GM models that also use the E2 architecture include the sixth-gen Buick Regal (2018 – 2020) and ninth-generation Chevrolet Malibu (2016 – present).

I don’t know how that code thing happened. It’s just about impossible to copy paste with all advertisements, here TOO. You turn on blockers or use speedmeup.net..You get blank page advertising TAPTALK..Not enough juice on IPAD for all the video adds slamming at you. Yeah, they virtually ruined in the internet. Actually I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did, 90 to present. Not to mention free speech is gone too.

Okay try again

Default 2021 Buick Envision Price Details Leaked

2021 Buick Envision Price Details Leaked

We then outlined the new model’s trim level structure, at which point we stated that we expect the 2021 Buick Envision price to start “around the $34,000 mark.” And now, we have been able to obtain a few specific pricing figures.

The 2021 Buick Envision will be available in four trim levels, starting with Envision (base), followed by Preferred, Essence and range-topping Avenir.

2021 Buick Envision Trim Levels

Trim Envision (base) Preferred Essence

PEG 1SV* 1SC 1SL 1SU

Drive Wheels FWD only FWD or AWD FWD or AWD FWD or AWD
* Not available with a Fleet or Government order type.

What we have today are 2021 Buick Envision price figures for the following five configurations in the U.S. market:

Preferred with Comfort and Convenience Package – $34,745

Preferred with Sport Touring (ST) Edition and Comfort and Convenience Package – $36,070

Essence with Sport Touring (ST) Edition and Moonroof – $39,770

Essence with Technology Package 1, 20-inch wheels, moonroof – $41,745

Avenir with Technology Package 2 and moonroof – $44,810

Though the exact figure is unknown, the base Envision model will start below the aforementioned $34,745 figure. Additionally, it’s unclear whether these figures represent FWD or AWD configurations.

Orders for the 2021 Envision will open on Thursday, August 12th, 2020, at which point we expect to have more pricing information.

The all-new, 2021 Buick Envision rides on the GM E2 platform shared most directly with the first-generation Cadillac XT4. Power will come from the turbocharged 2.0L I-4 LSY engine making 230 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The GM nine-speed automatic transmission will be responsible for swapping the cogs.

The vehicle will be assembled at the Jinqiao plant in Shanghai, China for the Chinese domestic market, as well as for export to North America, and the very first units are expected to begin arriving at dealers in early 2021.
