Default Minor front end wreck, car drive home then died. Got a few questions.

I accidentally bumped into a Mercedes with a massive trailer hitch, bent back my core support and radiator support a bit, didnít even crack the radiator, no fluids where dripping, etc. cranked right up after checking nothing was touching belts, no odd noises or shakes, and I started to drive the mile or so home. Turning right into my neighborhood the car lost power steering, aka, just dyed out on me. I tried to turn it over once, wouldnít crank so I pushed it home. But it sounded like it wants to crank just missing fuel or spark. My mechanic is coming over tonight to see why it wonít crank, I have full coverage but I also drive an 04. The cosmetic isnít a huge concern to fix, itís why wonít the engine crank and will I have to claim a screwed engine, which at that point they will total it. Cars is a pristine 04 WRX Premium.

My mechanic asked me to ask the forums about an inertial switch for fueling. No airbags deployed, my cab pulls no codes. I pulled the right timing belt cover and the belt looks fine.

Just donít know why taking that right and the car dying happened.

Any thoughts?

ok, so you are concerned 'they' will total and send your car to a scrap yard because you are realistic about it's value considering it is an 04.

So number one, YOU own the car, not the insurance company. You pay them for insurance, you are not leasing your 04 from the owner and are at the mercy of insurance because somebody else owns the car.
YOU own it dude.
So make the best moves you can financially and maintain possession of your car the entire time so you don't have to worry about it ending up at a yard.
The insurance company can certainly tell you that they need it inspected at "x" garage, but they can't tell you they are scraping your car without your permission.
If you want to keep it they sure as hell are going to make you buy the salvage from them if you wish to collect on the total loss, but all of those details are up to you.

heck, I have a 1950 truck. You think if somebody plowed into me and it was technically a total loss I'd watch it get hauled to a yard to be turned into rebar? Hell no. I'd collect what I could and buy the salvage and then I'd fix it and insure it again.

Maybe a ground fell off from the impact?
