There is way more flow capacity, with that filter/elbow setup, than that turbo will ever need. I don't see it as a choke point. We'll see if things change with the GTX3576-R, but I'd be really surpised if it did.[/quote]
Is room an issue with running a 4 inch inlet on the turbo?? |

From this pic you can see, there is room of you don't mind making a minor cut for some clearance. This is something we did on the very first go around and I never liked it. I was very skeptical to CNC mill the compressor housing and use the inlet reducer, but having access to engineering resources as Garrett is handy for things like this. The data showed no reduction in flow and a bit of an improvement in surge characterisitics Performance wise, we saw no difference. I somewhat expected the turbo to sound different is some way, but there was zero audible difference in air sucking, turbine/compressor whine, etc. Us too! We're working on something else, very preliminary too. Unfortunately (I think so far), it will only be for GRs, but if we can get the goemetry to work there will no longer be any comparisons (performance wise) to other kits. For the GDs, it's starting to look like, what you see is what you get, which isn't exactly a bad thing. More torture testing to come. Last edited by KillerBMotorsport; 12-31-2012 at 07:20 AM. |

See below Something else I've been thinking about. Much easier on the GRs since there's more space, but maybe... maybe... TS |

We're not designing around the EFR turbos. They are just too freaking big/long for that location as this kit should for the most part not require and fabrication to the car.
That being said, I'm sure anyone with a BFH/saw and some fab skills could make it work. |

Awesome looking kit, makes me consider waiting longer to see where it goes. I'd certainly be up for helping test cool stuff out instead of buying the same setup off the shelf that everyone else goes with.

The car has been sitting for a couple weeks with the bumper off. Nothing major, I just want to get the A/C condenser back in before summer. Waiting on the built engine's parts to come in and off it will go for another transplant. Quote:
Here's where we're hoping it goes... Testing with current GTX3071-R with 0.63 Tial turbine housing (baseline), then back to the 0.82 turbine housing for comparison. From there we'll install the GTX3576-R (likely the 0.82 Tial turbine housing) and see what she does. Depending on how everything goes, we may also test a couple different fuels (E85 and race fuel). |

Amazing kit. Glad you went with Garrett for it. Had a GTX3076 on my old s2000 and that thing was a blast.
Have you had any electrical issues (blown fuses) with your kit yet with running the scavenge pump and aftermarket radiator fan? Will you offer any wiring relay kits with your setup if they are required? |

Hoping by the end of Feb.

Thank you I will get a reply headed your way once I get a decent chunk of time to put some thought into. Quote:
On the electrical side, the only issue I've come across was due to my own stupidity (firing it up without the scavenge pump fuse in once). Besides that, it's been rock solid reliable. Wiring is pretty simple, and this says a lot as my skills are weak electrically. I plan to provide a BOM to exactly what we have into the kit, but electrically, there's nothing that can't be had at your local AutoZone. The radiator fan we're using is still under the current draw rating for the OEM circuit that it's tied to. So far so good. |

Any room at all for a turbo larger than a GTX3582R?
