AM radio works fine, it's just slightly off for some stations, which are available on FM as well if you find out when/station.

You retain all factory options with either OEM or Singapore models. It really is that simple.

Just a matter if you want HD radio or not and if HD radio is worth 300 bucks to you haha.

That works on both units too. I forget the guys name but there is a member here who makes the harnesses for the camera. Plenty of how-to info in this thread on where to source the stuff and how to install.

Mine didn't come with any cables but it's direct plug and play so not sure why you would need any.

Cause I come from a base 09 2.5i so I don't have an aux or mic or bluetooth or steering controls.

Default Confused. Need help!

I'm a noob.

So, I have a 2014 XV Crosstrek base model. If I get the Aliexpress head unit, will I still have full steering wheel button functionality, voice commands, etc.?

I don't mind that it doesn't have HD radio, AM radio, or Sat radio...I just want to confirm that all other functionality will remain intact.

I got the unit from Aliexpress. It has every function except HD and satellite radio. Also the tuning frequency for AM radio is off, so you can only get some stations.

With the exception of the items above, the US variant is the same, just costs more.

I'd like to retain all function and get satellite and hd radio. Which unit would I need? Us vs china cost isn't too much of a worry for me though

Then you'll want the US version for $1200.

Instead of 1200 find a member here or look on eBay and you could get it for 350 or 400. But either way, you need the US to have those functions.

Perfect, but I got confused with the many different model numbers even on the US model.

Thanks for your post.

Wow, what a lot of reading, almost read every word of this thread! Amazing info here and thanks to EVERYBODY who contributed!

So, I dont even have my car yet, I hope to by next week! My question is, I'm thinking about the Aliexpress/Ebay unit. I dont care for HD, but I really like my AM radio and specifically stations 670, 720, 780, and 1000 (ESPN). Does anybody in the Chicagoland area have one of these units and do these stations work on AM, close to their station # like others have expressed, or on FM perhaps?!

Does anyone know how to get this unit to rescan the satellite radio channels?

I know channel 87 exists, and I can go to it in my GF's car, but whenever I try to change to that channel my radio skips from 85-88. It's like I need it to rescan but I can't figure out how!

Nevermind. Called them and figured out I don't have the channel in my package and that's why it's not showing up.

I spent the past 2 weeks searching high and low for the US version of this with HD radio capabilities. I was able to find a couple used ones for $400 - $470 on eBay. However, in the end I just couldn't justify that price in order to get HD radio. Especially when I use Bluetooth to stream audio from my phone 99% of the time anyway.

So I gave in and purchased the one from aliexpress.com for $127 shipped. I'm pretty excited to get rid of the factory 1995 looking radio and get one fits the overall look of the interior a bit better.

EDIT: And since one of the key things I was searching for in this thread was wait time for one of these devices, I'll keep this post updated with the progress of my shipment. *From what I've read it's typically between 12-15 days to receive the device after placing initial order*

8/25 @ 10PM - Order placed and order listed as "Processing Payment"
8/26 @ 12AM - Order status changed from "Processing Payment" to "Awaiting Shipment"
9/3 @ 8AM - Order status still "Awaiting Shipment" and the countdown timer has lapsed on their site. Now waiting for the money to be refunded since it never shipped.
9/4 @ 6AM - Woke up to an email indicating that it finally shipped. I checked the account and sure enough it has been shipped out.

Been using mine for almost a year now and it's been flawless. Thinking about upgrading to a Pioneer NEX headunit soon.
