Default Battery dies instantly SBF-5

Need some help here. My 2004 STI keeps draining the battery in a matter of a few hours and quickly enough to prevent a start after two minutes of connecting the battery. I pulled all the fuses and found SBF-5 to drain my now almost dead battery from 5v to 2v instantly and it continues to drain from there.

My clock also draws it down fairly quick. There was an aftermarket stereo and sub/amp installed that I went through. Amp and sub are removed now. The gauges are pulling power from the removed clock wires and grounds go to battery.

It died yesterday idling. New battery and alternator last month. This has been going on for almost a year but car is always parked while I travel. I maybe drove it twice this year.

Disconnected the 4 relays on the passenger side and still get SBF-5 draw. Checked draw at fuses 11, 13, and 18 as I saw somewhere on here and there was nothing. So something is still pulling it down. I am the worst at using a meter so will need all the help I can get!

To add. When I disconnect the possitive the battery starts climbing back up to 12. So multiple issues?

Check the alternator plug. It tends to come loose.

Pulled the plug, greased it, put it back in tight. Reconnected battery and dropped from 7 to 5v instantly.

Alternators can drain the battery when they die. I'd be looking at your alternator.

A guy on YouTube (Devin Niemela) had a similar issue with his lowered widebody FRS. Battery drain issues out the wazoo. Replaced the battery with a fancy Optima and still drained it within hours and checked everything over several time. Old alternator was putting out a healthy charge even. Replaced the alternator and all cured.

Alternator was new about a month ago as I was reading up on the voltage regulator causing stray current into the harness and giving missfires. Since changing the alternator and adding a ground kit, the missfires stopped. Does not mean Oreilly gave me a bad alt. Could I disconnect the alt and see if it still drains?

Yup, by all means. Unplug the harness and charge cable and see what happens. Misbuilds do happen from time to time. Maybe it was the last one built on a Friday afternoon. Poor guy just wanted his Friday beer...

I had a short under the fuse box.

Was killing the battery (not as quick as the OP) and giving intermittent start situations.

Had the fusebox (in the engine bay) replaced with a used unit and problem solved.

No idea what happened, but it looked like the original fuse box was partially 'melted' for some reasons that were not apparent.

So I pulled it off and the battery came up from 6 to 8v. Touch the charge post cable and it drops to 5 again. With the alternator disconnected if I plug the fuse for the clock in, it drops from 8 to 2v. Thoughts?

Couldn't tell ya off the top of my head. It's pretty obvious whatever is on that circuit is the culprit.

I pulled all the wiring apart for the radio and the clock plugged the fuse back in and it dropped. Dig some looking at the diagram and FB9 Fuse 2 is my culprit. It does clock, radio, all interior lighting, and the door locks. Where would the Door Lock timer be located?

And whats the difference between keyless and non keyless entry? I have the fob to lock/unlock and the thick blue STI key.

To add, looks like it pairs with FB8 F2 to the B1 terminal of the Auto A/C Control Module.

Update: sbf5 looks to be holding strong. Maybe .1v every 5 minutes of drain. Still might be an issue. Real problem looks to be fuse 2 for clock.

Buddy and I just figured out that with the door open, it drains. With door closed its fine. There is a weird clicking (relay?) Under the dash. No ignition switch light ring, no door chime, its really tough to activate alarm with fob. New battery in fob, still the same.

Any one help?
