Default Loose '02 Impreza Power Window Motor Bolts

Do yourself a favor and tighten and thread lock the power window motor bolts. Mine were loose and with the motor rocking around it totally reamed out the bolt holes. My bolt holes are now about half inch long ovals. When I pulled the interior skin off, two of the bolts fell to the floor. The other two were finger tight.

If your window goes up/down crooked, makes a big thud when it hits bottom going down, you may seriously want to check this out. If it doesn't, get in there and do it before it happens!

Anybody good with a torch? I need to weld some washers in place to fix it.

Steve.

Default Warranty?

Just a question, but isn't/shouldn't that still be covered by warranty?

Sure, that kind of thing is warrantied...

You'll spend less time taking your door panel off yourself and snugging down those bolts than you would have spent making the phone call to set up an appointment to see the dealer...

Ah....the infamous loose electric window motor bolts. I had 7 total bolts loose on the drivers door. The 4 motor bolts and 3 associated with the window regulator. At least none of the bolts mounting surfaces were damaged. My window had begun to make a clunk noise when it began its downward movement and I took the door panel off the next day and found all the loose parts.
Besides, knowing how to remove the door panel is a plus if you ever want to upgrade the speakers!!!!

Any problem with this on '03s?

Should I tear down my door anyway?

How do you get it apart without breaking anything?

Carefully

You might want to hit the next install fest and tap the Great knowledge base there!

Vibes,

I'm not sure if I still have warranty coverage. My car has 41k on it. I think the warranty stops at 40k?

Even so, they'll just weld washers in place as well. I've read another thread of this same problem and this is what their fix was. I seriously doubt they would replace the door.

Basic bumper to bumper is 36K miles or 3 years, the powertrain warrantee is 5 years, 60K miles. I don't think the window motors will be covered here. Its very easy to remove the door panels w/o damaging anything.

If the holes have indeed been ripped open you could install your own washers to do the fix. I would think you would have to be a VERY good welder to tack on a washer on the very thin door panel w/o melting the surrounding metal.

Anyway, find someone nearby to take the panels off for you.
