another street racing related story
Last week somebody I know was tuning his race car on the streets of Peninsua Blvd. (Hempstead. L.I.)... full slicks, gutted out car, etc. The car was an eclipse or a talon 2WD. After several runs on the blvd., all of a sudden he lost control and found himself rolling the vehicle. With no harness attached, he was thrown out of the car (He was about 6"2) through one of the windows. As soon as this happened, another vehicle (speeding) passes him and runs him over...to make a long story short, he died. Bert - as everyone calls him owned a shop called Pro-Speed in Hempstead specializing in DSM. May he rest in peace.

what bothers me most is that it was a shop owner, someone who hopefully would have the ability to comprehend danger. and to not be wearing any restraints? (on a car that is equipped with slicks, come on people) racing is in my blood and I'm NEVER at a lack of places to race on the weekends. there is no excuse for this except poor judgement.
if this does not stop soon the sportscars we all have come to love will disapear, like their muscle car cousins did so many years ago. STOP STREET RACING......... <period> |
