Impreza GC8 87 RX-7 Turbo FS or Partial Trade for 98-01 2.5 RS

Well, I'm in need of a more practical yet fun daily driver so the 98-01 2.5 RS is my target.

The ad for the RX-7 on the rotary forum I moderate on is linked below;

http://www.nopistons.com/forums/inde...howtopic=30304

But yeah, basically looking for a 98-01 2.5 RS (I beleive the chassis code is GC8 from the bit of reading I've done so far) with no more than 60,000 miles I guess, preferably stock, 5 speed, and I'd really like Rally Blue Pearl!

Also, I do have a 72 Pontiac GTO that I'm looking to sell or trade if anyone is interested.

Thanks for your time and I hope to find a nice 2.5 soon so I can really start posting!

Holy crap, you know Vosko?! Yeah, the car is in Rochester right now. I'm honestly not sure I want to get rid of it, but I really do need something AWD. Other than that, I think trade + cash would work if we both like each others vehicles.

Can you tell me a bit more about the car? I saw in another thread something about being rallied, but thats no prob if its been well maintained.

come on, who else has man boobs like jon??

I drift at the dgtrails.com events and get drunk every now and then with him

I "rallied" it once in a TSD rally at the Susquehannock Trail ProRally (Won my class ), many autox's, many drift events. I got it from a dealer off a lease a year ago.

They all have driven it/worked on it. If you want an honesnt opinion feel free to contact them for an opinion.

And i just picked up a set of Anthracite P1 Wheels/Pirelli P7000's, Silver 99RS are no more.

lol, the flooding was what made me say that one.

Back in June it flooded on me for the first time and it would flood every now and then after when I left it sitting for more than a few hours.
I then figured out a trick where if I pull the EFI fuses to shut it off it never floods. Also cold weather seems to make it so I dont even have to do that which makes me beleive its a messed up sensor.
The engine also makes good compression so that even further makes me think that.

Hmm...so if all sounds good to you so far, should we setup sometime when we can meet up halfway or something and check each others cars out?

<Currently speaking (harassing) with some of my rotary friends>

Anyway.. pics of this highway guardrail mod would be helpful .. hows the trans and rear? From the mileage and sound of things the motor is on its last leg.

post some pics when you get a chance or email them to me at

<ibrandon(AT)mac.com>

thanks

Still working on the pics, my bastard server decided to crap out so it might be a day or two.

Tranny is notchy, and only like maybe 1 out of 200 shifts will it grind going into third. Other than that, it seems very strong. I've flushed and filled it with redline twice since I got it almost 50,000 miles ago.

Rear end has a small pinion seal leak so it will leak maybe a 1/4 pint in 10,000 miles. Other than that no problems.

Regarding the engine, as you probably have heard, with the rotary, every mile could be its last. This one has 108k and could go tomorrow. As best as I can tell though, it is a strong engine that just needs a sensor or two (the TPS and coolant temp are my prime suspects as they control fuel at shutdown and startup).

That doesnt go to say that this engine wont go tomorrow or soon, but the car has given me no trouble save for what I've mentioned and I think the engine still has until at least 140k left in it.

Even if my car isnt a candidate for being sold, whether you arent interested in buying or I decide not to sell, I'm still most definitely in the market for a 2.5 RS!

One question, any more pics of the car on the site here or elsewhere?

Grr.. how much for just the rolling chassis? if i get it the motor is going to be pulled (hows the turbo?), diff tossed for an ats, coils, gutted interrior, basically a full blown drift car. My car is always forsale, im interested in picking up an FC and u want an RS so i thought this deal would be cool. I would prefer something with less miles to work with but you cant complain with a 15yr old car (its the original motor right?).

I have like 976596758674884845 pics of my car floating around ill try to locate some and put em in here.

Sign up to www.pbase.com and upload your pics, its free up to like 10mb or something.

If you want to do some research on the car and all my parts and come up with some kind of money offer with the fc and PM it to me that would be fine.

<I totally forgot i have an ACT Street Clutch and a Findanza 9lb flywheel in it, installed in June. Purchased @ Nino's, Installed at Precision>

Cheers!

Turbo and manifold were replaced at 93k with a turbo and manifold from the 89-91 model year (it was also a JDM engine so it suppoedly had only 30k on it at the time, it definitely acts like a 30k mile turbo though!)

I also had all new gaskets installed when I did that (like $180)

I think theres no getting around it really. It would benefit us both to meet halfway to check each others cars out and get a hands on feel for how they are( I dont suppose it could be converted back to AWD before that happened could it? )

I have no idea where halfway would be though...Binghamton, NY?

Looks nice! I should note that in the next week or two the RX-7 will be taken off the road for the winter so if theres any interest in that meeting halfway to personally inspect the vehicles, we need to do that soon.
Its about the only way I'll be able to check out your car too as my current winter car I dont trust going all the way to NJ.

Oh, I should have more pics up in the next day though.
