Default Is my sti tuned?

I just recently bought a 2006 sti. The car has 120k on it and a full motor rebuild at 104k. It has an invidia turbo back, Perrin intake and turbo inlet, and hks bov. Also the previous owner said it also has a rebuilt stock turbo with aftermarket internals but couldnít explain much because all the work was done by the owner before him. He said the car isnít tuned but I think it has to be. The car makes 17psi peak boost and pulls hard. It runs really good and the afrís are good too. Also if I got an ap would I be able to see if the car has a tune and would that be smart to do even if Iím happy with the power and the car runs good?
Thanks.

If it has an intake I hope it at least has a MAF calibration. How are you measuring AFR?

It won't show you if it has tune it will just store the current tune as your default tune in case you take the AP off.

17psi is stock numbers for Hawkeye STI

If the previous Owner has no idea if the car is tuned or not, then neither do you.
- You have no idea what state your car is in.
- Don't trust that the car is actually tuned.

Get the car tuned ASAP. You have no idea what damage may be occurring within that engine in it's current state.

Even if the motor was rebuilt to spec, things have changed so you can't go by the previous tune.

BTW, for less problems down the road, dump that HKS BOV and install an OEM unit.

Even if you buy an accessport, you will not be able to see if its tuned. Its sounds like both you and the previous owner arent sure of this car to be honest. I would HIGHLY recommend you dont chance this. I think you should get yourself an accessport and get the car professionally tuned on the dyno by a reputable Subaru pro tuner.

if you buy a tactrix cable you can look into the tune and see but unless you know what you are looking for, it wouild probably be better to just get another tune. BTW its harder getting to find tuners that will tune on open source, so you might have to buy a cobb

You should let us know where you live so we can recommend a Great Tuner to have him data log your current Tune and see if it's safe.

The Tuner will tell you if you need an AP or if he can load the MAP onto your laptop and then you can buy the cable.
If your good with a lap top that may be an option, but Tuners tend to like you to have an AP, it makes life easier.

There is a old saying, "better safe then sorry".

To me it sounds like you might have a ebay turbo and the other guy just fed you some BS. Post a pic so people can confirm. Now back to your question. Like gc8 said, unless you connect to your ECU and look over the values, no one can tell you. Any yes, if you have a intake and that POS BOV, you should hope to god its tuned. If not then your asking for a new block. Our cares are designed to use a BPV not a BOV unless you tune for speed density.

Maximum oof here. You bought a modded car. You are driving the dog**** out of it. You need to get a ~$100 pre-purchase inspection and have a pro walk you around the car pointing things out. If you visit our regional forums, maybe you'll find a local to walk you around it. Until then you NEED to get smart on engine management and tuners and get a source for both.

^I love these scenarios

Owner #1 rebuilds the motor and then basically ditches the car immediately after to owner #2, who then ditches the car almost immediately as well to owner #3.
owner #3 asks about a tune.

I'd guess the tune is the least of your potential worries considering two people bailed on this thing right after rebuilding the motor.
Huge red flag.

Help... 15 STi won't make more than 5lbs of boost. Ran a smoke test no visible leaks. Car was fine one day sat over night got in the next day and it is noticably quieter. No exhaust pops nothing almost like a non turbo car. No weird noises, no cel, dam is at 1.0. could the BCS taken a ****? I'm lost my mechanic and I can't figure it out. Stock car with muffler deletes. 60k miles. Anyone had this issue any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try sport mode and sport sharp. That may help.
