Viper 5901 installed but alarm goes off when auto start when armed. HELP
I just got the alarm installed yesterday, viper 5901 w/ backup battery, backup siren, and glass break sensor. Before I left the installer, we tested everything but we did not test autostarting when car is armed. This morning when i tried to autostart it when armed the alarm went off. So i thought it was the glass break sensor. So I went and took off the kick panel and totally unplugged the glass sensor. Then went to autostart it again and same thing happens. It will autostart fine if I unarm the alarm first then autostart. Any ideas?

E P.. Take it BACK... if it's not set up to do what it's supposed to do, it's the installers problem and the shop that installed it.. What EXACTLY are you doing unplugging things? Do you have a clue as to how to troubleshoot an alarm? I don't want to sound overly harsh, but seriously, you got it installed YESTERDAY.. Take the thing back and tell them to make it right.. |

Well i watched the whole alarm install precedure, my guess was the glass sensor, now i know its not. I'll take it back to the installer tonite.

Could be they wired the dome light to one of the door switches. This will cause the light to turn on, but also appear like the doors are open.

if the starter is integrated with the factory alarm,the wire used to disarm the factory alarm may turn on the domelight briefly enough to cause the viper system to see it as an open zone and trigger...
if so you may have to shunt that neg input wire for a couple seconds to avoid this situation... let us know what the installer comes up with... |

the first question I would have is . . . is it the viper system going off or your factory alarm system?
As for the external sensors, the alarm ignores them during remote start. So the glass break and shock sensor will not cause the alarm to go off. |

I read in the manual that it takes 4 seconds for me to get paged if the alarm went off, i tested it while sitting inside the car and made the alarm go off, i got the page in 4-5 seconds. My friend's compustar will page him the second the alarm goes off, is there anyway to adjust this so i get paged quicker? |

I bet your alarm system is still active, we had a similar issue with my car. My Navi had a system selection to disable the Stock Security, your Subaru Dealer can disable it for you. Also check to see how sensitive the vibration sensor is.
He may want to use the DEI BitWriter and look at every setting one by one, it may have a error that sets off the alarm. Did he actually connect the Tach senor? |

Deactive/Disarm Factory Alarm
1. Sit in the driver's seat and shut all doors and rear gate. 2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 3. Hold down the UNLOCK side of the driver's power door locking switch on the door and Open the driver's door within the following 1 second! 5. Wait 10 seconds without releasing the switch (holding the lock button). The setting will then be changed as follows, as indicated in the odometer/trip meter display: If the system was previously activated: The odometer/trip meter screen displays 'AL oF' and the horn sounds twice, indicating that the system is now deactivated. If the system was previously deactivated The odometer/trip meter screen displays 'AL on' and the horn sounds once, indicating that the system is now activated. |

I would have your installer to just use the 5901 alarm rather than the factory alarm. But if there was an "express kit" that only utilizes the OEM alarm, I guess you have no choice. There should be two wires that arm and disarm the factory alarm. I have no idea what wires are interfaced with the factory alarm, but its obviously not wired correctly or you have a defective alarm. Daddyb makes a good point about the factory alarm; that has to be disabled when the autostart initiates. I had installed my own 5701 (shouldn't be much different than a 5901 in this case) and just disabled the factory alarm completely Domelight door trigger: I am not sure if the domelight can be used. The domelight dims so it still gets some voltage when you close the doors. I know the alarm system needs a full 12v as a trigger, but I just did a little extra work and used the 4 door sense wires in the DKP and diode isolated them all. Your autostart problem: If is indeed your factory alarm, then your installer did not wire the factory disarm wire correctly. If autostarting triggers the viper alarm then it is defective. The integrated autostart automatically disables (not disarm) auxilary sensors as well as integrated triggers (like shock sensors or starting sensor etc). Regardless, take it back and give em hell. Ysidro Ysidro, if you are right about no wire for the viper system to disarm the factory security then you definitely need an aftermarket alarm system (your 5901) to be triggered. Also, I think all the 08's have an immobilizer chip, but I don't think DEI (Viper's momma) makes a bypass for the Subie's, or at least NTIKO. Last edited by Henry H; 06-28-2009 at 10:36 PM. |

if he did use the express kit . . something is funky.
I've installed a few of the newer bypass kits and they are great for the new subies. I've done a wrx and a few foresters. The module connects to the CAN wires in the vehicle and it gives you the ability to control the door locks, factory alarm features, and bypass the immobilizer without loosing a key. tying into the factory alarm system was not an option in the previous model years (02-07) |
