Default Grattan Track day 23rd July -report

I hope everyone got home OK. It was a long day with enough excitment to last a while.

One Corvette parked in the barrier at the end of the main straight. This car will not be coming back for sometime.

One M3 lost it coming on to the main straight and hit a steel barrier. Other than that no other major damage.

Temperature was good to keep things relatively cool, except during lunch time when 4 Hooter girls turned up to serve lunch, they claimed to have spend all morning cooking. Some how I don't think these girls could cook but sure would look good in an apron.

Great day had by all, there were just as many Subaru's as there were BMW's not bad for a BMW club track day. The Subaru's ruled the day over the M3 pack, the Porsche Turbo and a few screaming Honda's (Sorry Hubert) and a Turbo Neon thing.

Anyway after going through a set of tires in 2 track days and a new set of front pads yesterday I need to prepare for the next track day...hopefully not in the 2 distant future.

Nigel.

How much better compared to ??. a WRX with coil overs probably handles better, I lighter WRX with a big brake kit might stop faster, a WRX with 350 HP might go faster. As a package it seemed to rule the roost on the day.

Yeah Nigel's tires were screaming for mercy all day but I was very very impressed by the overall package. It just seemed to hold well whether under power or not. The torque coming out of the corners was great. Definitely a faster track car than a E46 M3, at least yesterday. My car did OK but something didn't feel right, I'm gonna try some stuff at the TSSCC event this weekend suspension wise.

The track is great, definitely more challenging than Gingerman and alot scarier. I could never force myself to carry much speed into that super off camber left hand turn.

Hey Nigel give me a call sometime with that number. 262-994-0335

My WRX feels downright tame after riding with Nigel.

We stayed at Days Inn near 196 on 11. We ate at Hooter's later, couldn't convince the guys to go to Ruby Tuesdays instead.

too bad about the vette and the M3, on the better side, my STI [even though sweetsuby seems to own it more] was rather nice on the track

Mornign chaps & chappettes!

A great day had by most! Here are the pictures I got from the big white trailer... Link to pictures. I have to say, they pictures they took were great!

We have some video of people going around, and we still need to MPEG it. This requires Chris to go out and buy a Firewire setup.... We eagerly wait! When it's available, I'll post it.

The tires held up pretty good. I was impressed. My front left tire chunked a little, the other three held up great. They had plenty of grip too! It took me a while to get use to the all wheel drive and the power of the STi, but I think I improved quite a bit by the end of the day.

I had a blast. Perry did a really good job orgonizing the evnet. Can't wait for the next track day

Here are the pics

Damit! I should have drove my car there....with all the guys that cancelled last minute, I would've got in easily and Perry wouldn't have to loose too much from all those people not showing up.

Still....I had a lot of fun, thanks for giving me a ride there, Mr G. Oh yeah, that was my radio that scoob was using.

I'm sorry to hear there was such a shortage of cars there. Perry, I hope you didn't lose too much money.

You know how it goes... sometimes, trees just fall on your car
