Default Which is exhaust for deep LOUD rumble?! 2011 Sti Hatch

2011 Sti Hatch

I've spent the last month and a half researching exhausts and I could only hear so much based on YouTube. And reviews, comments, and so forth.

So here I am needing advice....

For a loud deep rumble what do you recommend?
I'm stuck between

Invidia R400 and Nameless Catback muf. delete.

It has to be catback due to extended warranty still on my car.

How much highway drone are you willing to put up with?

It's hard to get a deep and loud tone with just a catback.

The R400 is going to be deep, but relatively quiet compared to the muffler delete which will be loud but less deep and more raspy.

Your ideal setup would likely be a full turboback with a muffled (small mufflers, like R400) rear.

Would you be alright with a single exit exhaust or do you want to stay dual exit.
Single exits sound noticeably deeper.

Something like a resonated Invidia N1 would probably be up your alley.

Have you had the chance to hear the nameless muf delete in person... Did it sound way to ricey?

I thought about it, but the single exit on a hatch kinda looks a little funky in my opinion.. What do you think??

Had an R400, it's pretty loud. I didn't think it droned. Neighbor had a Nameless thing. Sounded nasty (in a good way) but didn't look very good IMO.

Both of us are back on Q300s. But I kinda want to buy an R400 again.

The louder the exhaust, the more drone it will cause on the highway. Drone is defined as a continuous low humming sound. Except in a hatchback Subaru, it's more of a continuous LOUD low humming sound that eventually makes you want to pull your ears off.

Gotcha ya!! Honestly I kinda like a little drone, the stock exhaust sometimes gives off a tiny little bit and I'm all about it....

Sounds like you're speaking from experience.. what exhaust set up were you running?

SS tips.

The way nameless routes their piping. It's visible and it bugged me.

Not neighbors car. But it looks weird to me. Not a fan. R400 much more aesthetically pleasing IMO.

Thought I would chime in for the sound on the nameless. I have a '13 wrx and started with the nameless catback w/ muffler delete. It wasn't raspy at all and still had the deep rumble.

On that setup I drove it 90 miles a day highway for my commute for 2 years and it wasn't too loud at all. When on cruise control around 75 with the music up I could still hear it in the background but it wasn't to the point where it was annoying. I have the sedan though so I'm not sure how much different it would be in the hatch.

I can't say I've heard the R400 in person so I can't comment on that, but I think you would be pretty happy with the nameless.

I've not owned a hatch WRX or STI, but I did put a stupid loud exhaust on a previous Accord I owned. Custom muffler shop special with a Magnaflow muffler. I hated driving it on the freeway. Sounded a lot like a cow standing three inches from my ear and mooing endlessly. A Subaru has a more uneven sound due to the stock header, but it will still become annoying after enough of a drive.

It's up to you. If you can stand some drone, a single exit exhaust has a great sound, IMHO.
