Exclamation AVCS? Help Please.

I'm not sure what parts really go into the avcs, could someone tell me everything that goes into it? I want a really detailed answer. Like how does it even work. How does the OVC change the camshaft angle and how do they connect? I'm more interested in just the Intake AVCS.

I hate Google, so I used duckduckgo and entered subaru+avcs. Wiki has a good answer.

basically the cam gears have chambers that fill with oil and move the cam in relation to the sprocket depending on which chamber is filled or drained. the solenoid is just a hydraulic spool valve that controls the oil to the chambers. the ecu reads a sensor at the back of each camshaft (there are little teeth machined into the cam shaft) and adjusts the solenoid until it reaches the desired angle.

Is there an oil line connecting the two so it gets filled with oil?

maybe it was something about my delivery?

litterally, the first two links on google:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active...control_system

https://www.iwireservices.com/single...-2002-2005-WRX

those both link to more articles with more information.

see if maybe you can find an fsm somehwere.

look at the parts schematics at subaru.parts.com .
https://parts.subaru.com/a/Subaru_20...11-006-07.html

or maybe some after market products.

Knowing what you have now helps.
Why you are asking helps.

No, this is NOT a "slap some crap on and get AVCS". A "wee bit more than that" as the Brits would say.

Not slamming, just asking.

I'm just curious to how it all works. I want to build a ej25 with single avcs built for high horsepower and put into a 2004 Impreza which doesn't have avcs as far as I know.
