Default VF39 turbo upgrade on stock intercooler?

I have a 2004 Forester XT and my td04 went out on me and I came across a good deal on a vf39. I have all the supporting mods for it besides the intercooler... cobb uppipe, cobb downpipe + Turbo back and cobb short ram.
Will running it with my stock intercooler damage the turbo and if so how long will it take? I plan on switching to a STI TMIC but I'm not going to be able to find a good deal by the time my turbo gets here on Wednesday😆

I think you might need the "STi pink" injectors with this setup as well. However, these questions should be asked with whoever is tuning the vehicle. Which you will need a tune to run these parts.

Edit: Also i'am about 80% sure you'll need the STi TMIC for that turbo.

You will need:

1. Engine Management
2. Bigger fuel injectors
3. Fuel pump

There's no need per se for a bigger intercooler at this point.

Anyway if you'd like to upgrade the intercooler, I wouldn't go with the STI one. Although the surface area is bigger, volume is not much different. The OEM intercoolers are not very deep, and you'd only see marginal gains. You might as well get something pricier but better like grimmspeed, process west, turboxs etc

i think at similar boost the vf39 might put out a little less heat from being more efficient at moving air. if you crank it up a bit the cooling will be an issue.
