Everyone else: wanted to update and say once again to this day the fuel pump setup is working great supporting 580whp. no problems at all.

Thanks for the update, I will be doing this mod next week.

- Did you end up adding the second ground at the FPC?

- And just to verify, your method was to retain the ground from the pump to the FPC, correct?

Update:

I did the modd, pretty easy. I soldered and shrink wrapped all of the connections. I used 10ga wire to power and ground the pump(stealth 340). At first I grounded the pump AND the relay to a common chassis ground, but I went back and connected the relay ground back to the FPC. This retained the priming sequence, but I still have full power the pump.

I looked at your final drawing and I don't see anything different than what anyone else would do to provide direct wiring to the pump. You use the OEM +V as a trigger for a relay and the power from the battery flows to the pump and back to the stock FPC. You do add a thicker wire for the ground but nothing is done to protect the FPC from the increase in amps from 14 amps to possibly 19-20 amps if you are using a walbro 465. Am I missing something?

The higher amps from the battery isn't flowing back to the FPC, its being grounded to the chassis in the trunk. The FPC is grounding the control circuit of the relay. This way you dont throw a CEL.

On your diagram I looks like you ground to chassis or somewhere other than back to the FPC. On Brazzl61's diagram the negative from the pump goes back to the FPC.

Yes.

Pump > chassis = boosted power

Relay > fpc = stock power (14a)

Your route is the typical route. You can either ground the relay back to chassis or back to the fpc. All it does is charge the relay on/off. It will allow you to prime and then shut off if you leave the key in the on position. But once you drive you will have 100% flow all the time. The FPC does not control the pump anymore. I'm sure you know this.

I'm just scratching my head on the other guy's setup.

That's exactly it. Plus you dont throw a code from the fpc being cut out of the mix.

Ok I've spent about an hour and a half reading through this entire thread and I see like 5 different ways to wiring the fuel pump lol. The way the OP does it seems simple and seems like it'll work. Now my question is, is the way the OP did his wiring ok to do or is there another better way that's not to complicated and won't burn out my fuel pump?

By the way I have a built 2.1stroker, rotated hx35w turbo, 850cc injectors, walbro 255... I'm planning on upgrading to a walbro 450, but either way I want to hardwire my 255 and see what it does.

I didn't wire it like the OP because you wouldn't get the full potential of the increased current. At first I wired BOTH the pump and relay grounds to a common ground in the trunk but I didn't like how the pump ran continuously when the key was turned to on. So, with the guidance of my tuner I wired it how I posted.

Okay... So does the factory FPC have a timed output? Reason I ask is that my relay isn't shutting off when the key is off.

I have...
85-Chassis Ground
86-12v from FPC
87-fuel pump
30- Fused 12v 10ga

amnvince88 a problem with your setup is that it's constantly cycling the relay which will shorten the life.

sorry i havent followed this thread closely. Yes to the second ground at FPC, it's a safety measure as far as im concerned for voltage. "ground" from pump to FPC remains intact, yes.

Hope this better helps. If not feel free to ask questions.

Also, someone asked about amperage somewhere, reason that amperage is able to flow is by creating a thick short path to ground. The amperage can travel through small gauge wire and FPC if the path is short enough. This is why I did not skip on putting that extra ground directly off the FPC.

PS now nearing 10k miles on build (FP setup), 32psi on 6262 with ID2000 and no problems.

So the only thing protecting the fpc is the extra ground you added ? Everything else is pretty typical if you want the FPC to control the fuel pump but I always thought this could be an issue if the - from the pump goes back to the FPC.

It is good to see you are having success. I'd like to see if this is still working after a Lon period of time. I hope it does.

What do you consider long period? It's been 8 months or so.

Is this your daily? 8 months is good for sure. You have fuel pressure gauge and it is keeping up etc?

It is my only vehicle , so yes it is daily driven, every day everywhere lol. I do not currently have a fuel pressure gauge, I am running stock fpr still as well. (I have yet to install my aeromotive afpr and gauge).
